Chapter 5
A gasp rippled through the crowd.
James stared at me in disbelief, then turned to Harper accusingly.
“Why are you hitting her?”
He reached down to help me up.
Harper’s face flushed crimson at his public rebuke, she slapped his hand away.
“She provoked me!” she screamed, abandoning all composure. “Don’t touch her! You have a wife now–you can’t touch other
women!”
James’s face darkened. After a moment, he turned to Tyler. “Help your mother up.”
Tyler, still angry with me, deliberately looked at Harper. “My mom’s standing right here.”
In the end, I touched my throbbing head, using a chair to pull myself up.
As security moved toward me again, someone in the crowd said uncertainly:
“Isn’t that Mrs. Brooks? She rarely makes public appearances, but I saw her once two years ago. Looks like her.”
Another person immediately disputed this. “No way. Mrs. Brooks wouldn’t be treated like this.”
The first speaker went silent.
James blocked the security guards, looking at me with an unreadable expression. “Claire, just apologize to Harper and Tyler. I’ll help you get another ticket.”
I managed a pained smile, my dizziness intensifying.
Tyler let out a loud huff. “She deserves this. Dad, let’s just leave her.”
James looked irritated. “Why insist on saving face when you’re suffering? Don’t you know your place?”
Harper suppressed a smile, signaling to security with her eyes.
Several guards surrounded me, dragging me like cargo toward the edge.
I cried out in pain as my body dangled over the water, seconds from being thrown into the sea.
Suddenly, a figure burst through the crowd, knocking the guards aside.
Hudson pulled me tightly against his chest, his face darkening to an extreme degree as he saw my condition.
Gasps erupted from the crowd: “That’s Mr. Brooks! CEO of Brooks Enterprises!”
“Oh my God, so she really is Mrs. Brooks. I wasn’t mistaken.”

Chapter 5
People whispered nervously, afraid of trouble, pointing to the security guards and Harper.
“Mr. Brooks, these people assaulted your wife. They accused her of sneaking onto the yacht
The security guards stood rigid with fear, voices trembling as they tried to defend themselves.
“This lady told us to handle it, sir. We didn’t know she was…”
Harper turned pale, repeating in a shaky voice: “Impossible… she can’t be the CEO’s wife… impossibler
James stared at me in shock, his gaze moving from Hudson’s protective embrace to my tear–streaked face rented against his
chest.
His breathing quickened, jaw tightening, as if struggling to contain himself.
Hudson’s brow furrowed as he carried me inside the yacht’s cabin.
He immediately called for a doctor to examine my injuries.
“Dock immediately,” he ordered the captain in a low voice.
Harper snapped back to reality and tried to slip away during the commotion
But Hudson noticed instantly. His bodyguard grabbed her and dragged her inside.
James tried to follow, protesting angrily:
“You can’t just detain people. You have no-”
With a thud, a bodyguard kicked him to the floor before he could finish.
Tyler stood paralyzed with fear, staring at me in Hudson’s arms.
When he tried to approach me, Hudson shot him a glare so intense it could cut glass.
Tyler had no way but to burst into tears. “Mom, please forgive us! We know we were wrong!”
Even Harper’s face now wore a fawning smile.
