Chapter 82
Zarek’s timing was spine chilling.
It was as if he had a god’s eye view of everything.
As though he could predict the future.
As if he’d known they would reach an impasse over the marriage and that it would spill over into their business dealings.
Jayden steadied himself.
What lay behind this pointed directive? Was it simply a capricious power play, or was it shrewd risk management based on exceptional insight?
If the latter, the man was terrifyingly perceptive.
Jayden glanced across the room, making brief eye contact with Issac.
If the project stalled, both Harmonex and Ansonic would suffer devastating losses. They’d been in the same boat since the project launched.
Issac’s face revealed nothing of his thoughts.
The others from both families looked increasingly concerned… Why did Zarek Weasley always have to interfere, pouring gasoline on the fire at the worst possible moment?
“Heh..”
A cold laugh cut through the tension.
Everyone turned toward Evelyn, who was staring at Issac’s back as she walked slowly toward him. “What good is loving Charlotte now? She’s already found her replacement and jumped into Zarek’s bed. Why else would he keep defending her?”
To someone whose thinking revolved entirely around sexual relationships, her logic made a certain sense.
Issac’s expression froze over. “There’s nothing inappropriate between them,” he said icily.
He’d had his doubts before.
But after seeing Charlotte’s texts with Summer last night and hearing what Zarek had said, he believed it.
Still, with Zarek repeatedly and openly protecting her, would Charlotte eventually develop feelings for the man?
The thought left a bitter taste in his mouth. He couldn’t bear to imagine the future…
“Is she really so pure and innocent in your eyes? Incapable of cheating?” Evelyn noticed his distraction, knowing he

was thinking about Charlotte again. She clenched her fists, seething.
Whenever Issac defended Charlotte, it filled her with rage.
Issac looked at her with sudden contempt. “Wasn’t I the one who cheated? I admit my mistakes. But she was always a good person. I was the one who betrayed her.”
People only realize what they had after losing it.
She had given up her dream major for him, endured criticism from his family, stood firm in their marriage… She was brilliant, gentle yet strong, never losing her temper. Despite all her goodness, he had gradually found her boring… Like someone who’d grown tired of paradise and sought out suffering instead.
Evelyn’s expression twisted. “If she’s so good, am I the villain? What were we then, when we were together?”
Issac’s eyes were empty, as if looking at something already dead. “What do you think?”
Evelyn screamed, grabbing a knife from the table and pressing it to her throat.
The Granthams lunged to take the knife away.
Issac didn’t even glance back. He turned and walked toward the door. He’d seen this same drama played out countless times over the past few days. If she wanted to die, let her.
Howard and Amanda also stood up, their faces grim as they followed their son.
Seeing that he was leaving even as she threatened suicide, Evelyn cried out, “Come back! You’ll regret this! You’ll definitely regret this!”
Issac kept walking, never looking back.
The Granthams managed to take the knife away. After stabilizing his sister, Jayden followed Issac out with his
assistant.
Jayden’s head was pounding.
He should never have allowed his sister’s reckless behavior. Now personal and business matters were completely tangled.
And as if that weren’t enough, Zarek Weasley had entered the fray…
Zarek wasn’t actually as omniscient as Jayden imagined.
Having interacted with Issac several times recently, he had simply developed a decent understanding of the man’s tempekebabt.
Today’s action was partly personal, but mostly based on his assessment of the situation given what he knew.
Issac’s behavior last night and Amanda’s statement today were completely at odds. Given Issac’s volatile nature, it would have been shocking if he had meekly gone along with it.

The scene resembled a council of ministers gathering to confront an irresponsible prince,
They’d heard about the Portugal branch incident.
Especially about the new executive assistant who had impressed the Chairman–Charlotte Whitmore.
The name immediately reminded Steven of a video a business associate had shown him while golfing, presenting it as an amusing scandal.
He’d not only seen the Dominex “prince” in it, but also Ansonic’s CEO Jayden Grantham and Harmonex’s CEO Issac Wood. Steven had dealt extensively with Jayden due to the project loan, maintaining a close relationship.
Charlotte Whitmore’s name had stuck with him then; he’d thought she looked like a dangerously beautiful
enchantress.
The memory made a strong impression.
So when news about Portugal came in, hearing her name immediately triggered the connection..
He’d even gone so far as to mention it to Arthur Weasley.
But the Chairman hadn’t seemed concerned at all.
Hmph. Now he’s targeting Ansonic over that woman, acting recklessly, obviously bewitched by her beauty.
Finally, the door opened.
Rex invited them in.
They approached Zarek with exaggerated politeness, each word carefully chosen. Despite their respectful tone, they were clearly there to challenge him.
Every comment suggested he’d made a mistake.
Steven pointedly mentioned he’d already reported the matter to the Chairman.
Zarek didn’t get angry or pull rank. Instead, he smiled and dialed a number on speakerphone right in front of them.
“What’s the situation with the Granthams?”
“Issac stormed in furious and left equally angry, with his parents, Jayden chased after him. They had some kind of confrontation outside before parting ways.”
“Wait,” the voice on the other end grew excited. “Breaking news–apparently the Woods and Granthams had a massive blowout at the Grantham mansion. The Granthams threatened to terminate their joint project if Issac

Heaven knows how his people obtained this information so quickly.

After Amanda’s public statement, the whole world lud assumed the Woods and one is bessere family. This development was completely unexpected.
If they had released the second loan installment before learning this, they’d be facing a dormed prayer with line hope of recovering their money. The executives mentally kicked themselves for their exercicism.
Zarek’s expression cooled slightly. “Mr. Cullen, I suggest you call the Chairman again. You should be begging fr forgiveness.”
Steven’s face turned redder than a beet.
He was saved by Zarek’s ringing phone.
Looking at the caller ID, Zarek seemed surprised. For a fleeting moment, his eyes revealed both concern and
tenderness.
