Charlotte couldn’t resist stealing a glance in the rearview mirror.
« it have to be this way?”
She saw Olivia staring defiantly with misty eyes, struggling to hold back tears.
“Stop the cat
Olivia suddenly shouted
The driver naturally didn’t comply–he only took orders from Zarek
Fearing Olivia might try something reckless, Charlotte quickly asked the driver to lock the doors.
Sure enough, a second later Olivia grabbed the door handle, but thankfully it was already secured.
Even as Olivia made this dangerous attempt, Zarek didn’t so much as blink, his expression coldly suggesting he wouldn’t intervene if she was determined to harm herself.
“You really do hate me.
Olivia finally broke down.
She pulled her knees up and buried her face, overcome with grief.
Hearing her sobs, Charlotte thought of her own heartbreak. She sighed inwardly and quietly reached back with tissues
“Miss Whitmore!
Zarek looked at her with a warning frown.
Charlotte pressed her lips together and withdrew her hand.
Men are all the same, she thought. Either cheating on their wives or emotionally cruel!
Zarek caught her indignant expression and almost laughed despite bis irritation
The ear arrived at the hotel
Zarek got out and strode inside without looking back
Charlotte thought: He really meant it when he said I’d be responsable…
With no choice, she turned to Olivia, who remained in the back seat. “Ms. Waldorf, let me get you a room.
Oliviasat rigidly, an aura of cold detachment surrounding her.
After a long silence, she finally spoke softly. “No need for a separate room. I’ll stay in yours.”

In the room, Olivia announced she wanted a bath
“You shouldn’t bathe after drinking. Let me under some ice water for you instead, Charlotte advised.
Olivia ignated her and headed toward the bathroom.
Charlotte moved to block her paths. “Il something happens to you, how will I explain it to Mr. Weadley? I’m sure you know you shouldn’t bathe after drinking–this is self–destructive?“
Having her motives exposed. Olivia’s eyes reddened again.
Charlotte took the opportunity to guide her to the sofa.
This elegant, melancholy woman was more self–destructive than Ophelia in Hamlet…
She called the hotel concierge and requested ice water and electrolyte solution.
Just as she finished the call, her phone rang i

Her new phone only had two contacts saved: Zarek and Rex
Seeing it was Zarek, she instinctively glanced at Olivia on the sofa. Assuming he had calmed down and was checking in, she answered. “Hor
“Come to my suite ”
The four sample words came through clearly.
Charlotte paused for a second, then quickly responded, “Right away”
Ending the call, she approached Olivia. “Mr. Weasley wants to see me. Please wait here I’ll be back shortly.”
Olivia slowly raised her head from the cushion, her cool eyes examining Charlotte from head to toe. Suddenly, as if understanding something, she gave a hätter smile. “Go ahead”
Charlotte:
What was that look supposed to mean?
She opened her mouth to explain, then realized any explanation would sound suspiciously defensive
She felt a flash of irritation.
Whatever. Misunderstanding or not, the truth would become clear eventually.
She turned and left.
Outside Zarek’s suite, she used her keycard to enter. For convenience, both she and Rex had access to his room–standard practice for executive staff who needed to be available at a moment’s notice
It had seemed perfectly normal before, but after Olivia’s knowing look.. it suddenly felt awkward.
She walked in to find Zarek standing by the window, unfastening his watch.
A man removing his watch…

After the words left her mouth…..
The awkwardness that followed was thick enough to run with a knife,
Charlotte wished she could bite off her own tongue. She cleared her throat and hurried toward the phone, dialing as the asked with forced composure. “What would you like to eat, sir?”
Zarek expressionlessly refastened his watch. “Whatever!”
The most difficult request in the world: “whatever”
Charlotte inwardly groaned while outwardly using a gentle tone to order various items from room service. Not knowing his preferences, a range of options.
When she finished the call and turned around, she noticed he had put his watch back on.
So he was fully aware of the misunderstanding…
“Miss Whitmore, you should understand that your current duties were previously handled by Rex” Zarek remarked coolly, helping dispel whatever Inappropriate thoughts might be in her head
Still mentally disoriented, Charlotte blurted out, “Rex had to do this too?”
Zarek
He waved his hand dismissively. “Just go.”
Charlotte left the room.
She walked a short distance down the hallway, stopped, and lightly banged her head against the wall.
Rex was returning to his room when he witnessed this bizarre scene. As he was about to approach, Zarek called, requiring him to go there first. Upon entering, he couldn’t help commenting, “Sir, has Miss Whitmore been drinking? I just saw her hanging her head against the wall in the hallway.”
Zarek
He rubbed his brow and proceeded to discuss some details about tomorrow’s schedule,
Room service arrived, and since Rex’s stomach was growling, Zarek invited him to join.
“Charlotte was winning so well earlier. Why did you take over?” Zarek asked casually as he finished eating dabbing his mouth with a rapim
The memory made Rex smile. “She was way too bold. At first I was worried, but then she got carried away and was about to go all in on one band. 1 nearly had a heart attack! I had no choice but to make an excuse and send her away. She thought she was some poker prodigy……”
Zarek’s expression sharpened. “She left the room?”
