CHAPTER 61–Elijah’s Honesty
CHAPTER 61 – Elijah’s Honesty
CHAPTER 61- Elijah’s Honesty
KYLIE’S POV
I woke up in a dimly lit room, with my body vaguely hurting. I wanted to sit up, but I knew that would require great effort, and my strength was too depleted for it. So I simply lay there waiting to feel better. But I wasn’t sure I was going to be feeling anytime soon.
I looked around at the unfamiliar room and spotted a familiar face framed in a picture.
“Elijah.” I sighed. Of course, it was his room. He had brought me here. I closed my eyes trying to remember the events of the past couple of hours. It was terrible really, being dragged by the strange men. I had tried to put up a fight, but there were three of them, and one hit my head from behind, causing me to pass out.
Eventually, I had woken up in a dingy, musky dark room, with more men. I should have been scared, but I was too angry, too pissed that they had taken me captive.
I had screamed and cried that they set me free, and eventually got the attention of the man who seemed to be the leader. He had slapped me and asked me to shut up. Saying something about waiting for my boyfriend. I knew he spoke of Elijah. And that’s when I felt a bit of fear. I didn’t want him to hurt Elijah. I knew Elijah was strong, but these men were plenty. I had seen about fifty of them while I was there. There were even women, and I had to wonder if it was a cult of some kind.
Alas, Elijah did come. I had heard him say my name, I had felt him carry me. He had saved me. He had saved me.
But there was something else…
“you’re up.” I turned to where he stood by the side of the bed, worry etched on his face, and I found the strength to stretch out my hand toward him.
“Someone’s feeling clingy,” he said when he sat beside me, and I smiled a weak smile.
“I was on the brink of life and death. I’m sure I’m entitled.”
“Are you in any form of pain?” he asked, running a thumb across my cheek, and I sighed.
“more like a whisper of it. A little hollow pain here and there that fades with each passing moment.” I said honestly and he nodded.
We were quiet for a while, with him watching, and memories of the past couple of hours flooding me with assault.
There had been animals. Beasts, just like the ones I had seen fighting in the forests. And Elijah…
“You were one of them,” I told him, and he looked back at me, saying nothing, his eyes revealing nothing, but disputing nothing as well.
“What are you talking about Kylie?”
“the beasts. I saw beasts. I saw men… then they became beasts. And you… you had been a part of them.”
“I’m not going to try to make you feel like you’re being gaslit. But you hit your head, Ky. That was a traumatic experience for you, and I don’t want you dwelling on that. I need you to focus all of your energy on feeling better.”
I shook my head and found some strength to try to sit up, then I wrapped my hands around the collar of his shirt.
“I know what I saw Elijah. I saw you. I think It was when some men carried me away from that dingy room. I’m not so sure, as everything is a blur right now. But I saw you, Elijah.”
He shook his head.
“you don’t know what you saw, Kylie.” he placed a hand over the one that held his collar.
“I don’t? So why don’t you tell me, then? What did I see?” I asked and waited but he did not supply an answer. Instead, he looked at me for the longest time, before he shook his head, and looked away.
“We don’t have to do this now. You just woke up, but I’m sure you’re still slightly weak. Why not take some time to rest, and after you gather your strength we can talk.”
“no,” I said firmly, and his brows nearly shut up into his hair.
“No?” he asked, and I shook my head.
“The whole point of leaving me in the dark for as long as you did, was so that I didn’t get into danger. But look, Elijah. I ‹ fell into a whole lot of danger. If this isn’t the sign you need to get over yourself, and finally tell me the truth, then I don’t know what else it is that you actually need. My life is in danger, whether or not you tell me. But if I know, what exactly it is l‘ m up against, don’t you think that puts me in a safe place?”
He sighed deeply and took my other hand in his.
“you wouldn’t really believe it if I told you.”

CHAPTER 61–Elijah’s Honesty
I smiled weakly, “You know, you wouldn’t believe what I’m capable of believing.”
I watched him smile, and then grow a bit more serious, and then he squeezed my hands.
“I think you’ve known this for a while though… but, I’m not human, Kylie
He was right, I had suspected this for quite some time now, but hearing him say it was a whole different thing entirely.
“so… what are you exactly?” I asked, wanting to know.
“I told you this the last time, but you didn’t exactly believe me. I am a werewolf, Kylie
I didn’t say anything for the longest time. A werewolf. He had said it once before, but I didn’t pay him any mind. I had believed he was just fishing for something to say. But, right now, he seemned so serious, and I didn’t have any reason to not believe him, not with everything I had seen for myself with my own eyes.
“A Werewolf.” I said, sounding stupefied, “How?” I questioned, and a soft chuckle escaped his lips.
“I guess it’s safe I was born this way.”
“So you’re trying to tell me that everyone in your family is a wolf as well?”
“most of us are shifters, yes,” he said, with a slight nod.
“and those men who took me? Are they shifters too?” I asked, and he nodded slowly.
“they are. And they are the bad guys. We call them rogues. They don’t belong to a pack really, just a bunch of guys who left their packs and began to act out as menaces to the society.”
“so they are like a group of outlaws and misfits, but werewolf version?”
“Exactly,” he said, smiling at my analogy.
I tried to reason it all out and take it all in, but I simply did not know where to begin.
“that’s a lot to believe if I’m being honest,” I said, feeling so unconvinced because it didn’t make that much sense to me.
Shifters belonged to a fairytale such things just did not exist in the real world. In my world.
“I could show you.” he said softly, looking deeply into my eyes, “if that’s what you’d want.”
I only had a split second to think about it, and nodded slowly, “Okay.”
“Okay. Can you walk, do you feel strong enough?” he asked me and I nodded, “Good, we need a bigger space.”
He stood, so I stood too, and only then did I realize that I was only wearing one of his shirts.
“Really?” I asked, looking down at myself and he smiled and shrugged.
“Sorry, I didn’t have the time to pick up something from your wardrobe,” he said, drooping with sarcasm and I pinched his
arm.
“Alright, I deserved that one.” but he took my hand, and led me out of his room. I had never been to Elijah’s place, so every turn was foreign to me. And trust that there were a whole lot of turns in his house.
Hell, there was a west and east wing, with a corridor that combined them, and stairs coming from each side.
“nice place,” I said while he led me down the stairs, and he just hit me with a cheeky grin.
“Hope you’ll still be coming around after this,” he said and led me out into the courtyard.
“ready?” he asked, standing in front of me, and I nodded slowly.
“Good.” he took off his shirt and handed it to me, and I raised a brow,” I lose my shirts while shifting. And I kind of like that
shirt.
“Okay.”
He also took off his shorts, and gave them to me, so that he was only standing in his briefs, and then he blew out a breath. “Alright. Here goes,” he said, and arched forward, transforming before me into… into a beast. Just like the ones I had seen in the forests, and the ones fighting in front of my apartment.
A wave of dizziness washed over me, but I stayed until he was completely transformed into a wolf, and let out a very long, very loud howl.
“oh my, oh my,” I said, and when I could not hold it in any longer, I passed out on the cold ground.
