Chapter 49 – The Child’s demise
ELIJAH’s POV
It didn’t make sense to me that of all the people whose description had to match the child’s attacker, it had to be Kytke But I played it cool for the sake of Kylie. She was already overly emotional concerning being jalled, I didn’t need to m things worse by talking to her about my suspicions. So I kept them to myself
But after I had dropped her off at her apartment building, I called up the chief officer at the station and asked for the location of the child who had been attacked.
If my suspicions were right, and I didn’t doubt they were, then that attack was a supernatural one, and that child needed more than a medical doctor. I just needed to be sure, so I headed back to the police station and asked the office about the child who had been attacked.
“I don’t know what hospital he was taken to for sure. But I heard it was an infirmary along the east bend. Not a very populer one, but affordable by the looks of it.”
“Thank you.” I told him and made a beeline out of the station. I think I knew the infirmary he spoke off
I parked my car outside the infirmary I was directed to. The fact that it was this particular infirmary was my second reason to believe that this child’s attack was anything but normal.
Plus, it was not just your everyday infirmary. If you understand what I mean.
“Alpha.” One of the nurses said and bowed in greeting as I passed by and inquired of her for the beaten child
“I’m looking for the little boy who was brought in yesterday.”
“Ah yes, that would be junior. He was very injured yesterday. But he is well out of danger.” The nurse said.
“What room is he in?”
“Room 303, Alpha.” She said and I noticed the concern in her expression.
“How bad is it?” I asked, and she shook her head.
“He has a fever now, but we’ve tried all morning to contain it. I’m not sure he has long until his symptoms worsen and he starts acting out.”
“I see,” I said and sighed. I heard everything she didn’t say. The boy didn’t have long before he started to become a rogue wolf, seeing as he was bitten by one.
The infirmary was well able to keep him locked in right now, but when the transformation happened, he would be strong enough to single–handedly break free on his own. We couldn’t let that happen.
Something needed to be done. And fast.
Otherwise, that boy would kill everyone in his sight. Newbie rogue werewolves always possessed hyper strength and hyper aggression. That combination, along with however bad his attack was, was only going to be a recipe for disaster.
“Make sure to keep an eye on him. Prevent his transformation for as long as you can manage. I’ll be back soon, hopefully with a solution.” I told the nurse and she nodded hopefully as well.
“We will do all that we can.”
I walked back to the entrance without seeing the boy. There was no time to pay him a visit and my mind was racing with possibilities of all the things that could go wrong and all the ways I could try to avoid it.
The pack healthcare team could try to slow down the boy’s transformation, but only a witch could completely stop it. A powerful one at that.
I knew one. Her name was Michelle. She might be able to stop this boy’s process of transformation, but it had been so Long since I heard from her, and I wasn’t sure if I could find her without any help.
So I summoned the pack elder telepathically, and when they were gathered I teleported to where they all met.
“Good evening everyone,” I said when I joined them and they rose to acknowledge
Me.
“Good evening, Alpha. You said this meeting w Successfully unlocked! we are all here. What is the matter?”
“It is a matter of urgency. There is a boy, at the Specialary, who was witten by a rogue wolf and is on the verge of his transformation into one. The nurse is doing all that she can right now to slow it down, but it needs to be stopped permanently.”
“Okay. So what would you like us to do?” Another elder asked.

“I’d like you to help me locate the pack witch, Michelle. I need you to bring her to the infirmary to save that child?
They found her within the hour and brought her to the infirmary while I waited
“Long time no see, Alpha Thear you need a favor”
I smiled at Michelle. She was in her late forties, but she didn’t look a day over 25
“Michelle” I said warmly before getting to the nitty gritty, “The boy was bitten by a rogue wolf, which means that it’s only a matter of time before he turns into one.”
“So you need me to reverse the effect of the bite, am 1 correct?”
“Very much so. And fast, if you don’t mind.”
“Hmm.” She replied and walked over to the boy, closed her eyes, and placed a hand over his forehead, then gasped
“What is it? What’s wrong?”
“It’s spreading.” She said in a quiet tone, “A little more time wasted and he would have become the thing we are trying to avoid.” She finished and closed her eyes again, then she started to make some chants.
She burned sage at the top of the boy’s head, all the while the boy’s eyes were closed and I waited hopefully.
It was thirty minutes later before she stopped, sweat dripping the sides of her face when she turned to look at me.
“It is done.” She said in a coarse tone and I nodded.
“Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me yet, I still need to cleanse him from the memory of the attack.” She said and turned to look at the boy.
“Poor thing, the memory isn’t a good one”
She waited till the boy came to, before finally making him forget.
“Now, his mind is clear.” The witch said when the boy fell into another deep slumber.
“Thank you, Michelle.”
“Now you can thank me, I accept cash as well.”
“You will get it.”
“Great. In the meantime, ask the nurse to check him again. He has injuries and cuts
That needs constant tending.”
“Will do.” I headed out to get the nurse from earlier and while she checked the boy’s injuries, and cleaned them, some of the werewolves from the earlier meeting gathered around.
“This can’t happen again.” One of them said.
“It shouldn’t, but I fear that the rogue attacks are getting out of control. What troubles me is that the Dean is aware, but all
he does is wipe the memories of the affected individuals. No single action is taken against these rogue shifters.”
“If the dean won’t do anything, then I guess it’s high time we took matters into our own hands.” My beta said enthusiastically and I turned to him.
“Yeah? Well, what do you have in mind?”
“For starters, I’ll gather some of the men to go on patrol. Just so they can scout out the shifters. As many as they can find. We will use them as an example for the rest.”
“That’s reassuring,” I said, and did feel somewhat better.
“Don’t worry, Alpha. I won’t rest until all of this is yesterday’s news.”
I sighed and nodded, “All right then.”
I waited till most of all the other werewolves left before I left the infirmary. My
My mind was full of thoughts. And it all centered around the rogues. My beta had assured me that he would do his best to curb them. But curbing them was one thing, I also needed to know what made them even come into town in the first place. “Kylie?” I wondered out loud as the whole situation from last night’s dinner came into my mind. And then, there was her bracelet. All of which hinted that there was something supernatural about her.
Then don’t get me started on how she was the first person everyone thought of when they mistook the description of the child’s attacker. It wasn’t a coincidence that they thought it was her. I didn’t believe it was a coincidence.
As I walked outside, the rest of the werewolves before me, I found Kylie outside the infirmary. She was walking home by the looks of it, but it was still strange to see her around here.
One of the female wolves tried to talk to me about something and I noticed the moment Kylie saw us, I noticed the shadows that played on her face, and I think I saw a bit of Jealousy before she schooled her expression and just kept
