CHAPTER 12- A KISS IN THE DARKNESS
Kylie’s POV
It was my first day of the internship and I was already nervous to the brim. There was an inter–school match today and I had to accompany the team.
As soon as I got to the nurse’s office, I saw Jessica standing by the table.
“Jess? What are you doing here? I thought you were interning for the head nurse of our school.”
I asked, making her look at me. She squinted her eyes proudly and said, “Girl, I changed mine so that we could be together.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Look.” She showed me her ID card enthusiastically. I smiled in relief, “Thank God you are here. I really needed moral support…
The nurse came and took us to the gym room to join the players. I carried my bag, and
my
first aid kit and followed her.
As expected, I caught the sight of both Justin and Elijah amongst the other team members.
They were talking to the chief but Elijah lifted his eyes to look at me, as if he knew I was there. I immediately lowered my eyes and hid behind the nurse.
The nurse, Mrs Mavis, took us to the coach and said, “We are ready, coach.”
“Excellent!” Mr Godfrey said before leading us to the school bus.
I grabbed Jessica’s hand and sat on the front seat, right next to the coach so that neither of them came nagging me.
Elijah stopped to take a look at me and pulled his lips together before going to the back.
The journey went smoothly with Mr Godfrey pumping the boys with motivation. The atmosphere here was wild, no wonder the players played this game so violently.
We reached the stadium and retreated to the guest room to prepare.
“There is no antiseptic. Luckily, I have brought some along, so I will go and fetch it from my bag.” I was sorting the medicines by their uses when Jessica signaled to me that someone was cooking.
It was none other than Justin, he said, “Kylie, can we talk?”

“You have told me that a million times but my answer isn’t gonna change. I am not

forgiving you.” I said firmly.
His eyes saddened a little and he tried to grab my hand, “Can we please just talk? I know we can fix this.”
I pulled my hand away fiercely, “No. And if you excuse me, I have some work to take care of.”
I walked past him to the other room where we had kept our bags. I went there and stopped, all this interaction was draining me and I needed some time to pull myself
back.
I unzipped my bag and was trying to find the medicine when suddenly, the light went
out.
“Great!” I said and reached out to my pocket to pick out my phone. Suddenly, I heard something move behind me.
“Is someone there?” I turned on my flashlight and checked for the source of the sound, but it was empty.
I dismissed it as my imagination and went back to looking for the medicine. That was when someone grabbed my arm and shoved me against the locker.
“What the fuck?” I tried to scream but was shushed down by a bizarre kiss.
“Mhmmm! Mhmmmm!” I struggled to break free, still shocked by this. My mind was in a tempest, I did not know what was happening until I caught a waft of a familiar scent of cologne.
My eyes widened when I realized who it was. It was Elijah!
The boy grabbed my waist and pushed his whole body weight against me. He was so tall and intimidating that I couldn’t help but get pressed on like a soft toy.
I tried to pull my hand away from his clutch but he took back control with ease. He locked both my hands and pinned them above my while his other violated my breast.
“Elijah! Stop…” I managed to say but to no avail.

His warm tongue pried open my lips, making his way inside my mouth to tease me. Our tongues danced together in harmony even though I did not want it.
He was being aggressive today for some reason and it was starting to hurt me a bit.
I moaned, trying to get someone to help me but there was no soul who could hear me.
The big devoured me like a hungry beast and did not spare me until I was almost breathless.
He pulled back once he was done and I could trace out his handsome face in the pale brightness.
I pushed him away and asked, “Are you out of your damn mind?”

He ignored my question and said, “Are you getting back together with him?”
“No! Do I look crazy to you?” I stopped when I realized something, “Is this what it is all about? You are jealous of me talking to my ex?”
He inched closed and said, “You are mine, Kylie. I am not giving you away to anyone else.”
I was shocked and rendered speechless by his words. I had never seen him like this before and never knew that he could be so possessive.
Elijah left without making another statement and I leaned against the wall, touching my lips which still had his warmth lingering. They were swollen and all I could do was pray that no one noticed it.
What did I get myself into?
The lights came back and I cleared my head. I grabbed the medicine and went out, only to see a big ‘I am sorry‘ written on the floor with rose petals.
“What is going on?” I was confused and looked around to see Justin standing there with a bouquet.
He got on his knees and gave me the bouquet, “I love you, baby! Be my girl.”
Everyone started to hoot and cheer, reminding me of the day he confessed to me on the field. Everything was the same, except instead of being happy and feeling lucky, I was feeling embarrassed.
I grabbed the flowers and threw them on the ground, shouting, “Justin, are you sick? I told you it is not gonna happen, stop bothering me.
Justin’s face turned pale and the cheering stopped dramatically. He got up and tried to say, “Kylie, listen…”
“What is happening here?” Elijah, who was not in the room, came back and towered. behind Justin. The expression on his face was just as scary as the aura around him.
Justin immediately turned around and said, “Nothing, captain. I was just talking to -Kylie.”
“Get back to practice.” He ordered in a murderous tone.
“Y–Yes, captain. Justin nodded before running away. I could say that he was shitting his pants.
Elijah threw a glance at me before leaving. Even though he did not say anything, I understood what he meant.
I looked at the ‘LAM SORRY‘ on the floor and helplessly shook my head. I picked up a broom to clean it when I felt a piercing gaze on myself. I lifted my head to see Lisa standing at the door, her fist clenching tight.
I did not notice her come in but I could say that she had watched everything. The two of us exchanged glances before she ran away.

I shook my head and proceeded to clean the floor. Jessica came to me and said, “That was wild.”
“I know. Hopefully, he will quit trying now.”
“Do you want me to help you get rid of the boys?” She asked.
I said, “Thanks, girl. But I got this!”
“Okay.”
The match was about to start and the players had already gone to the stadium. We
grabbed our boxes and headed out, only to see Elijah waiting at the door.
He stood in front of me, obstructing my way, and said, “I want to talk to you.”
