KESTER.
The drive home was a bit boring and nerve–wracking, with a cocktail of tension and barely contained lust and desire.
Every few seconds, my gaze flicked up to the rearview mirror, where my máte lay so peacefully asleep across the backseat while putting on that skimpy short – the kind I’ve always told her not to wear that exposes way too much skin – I almost lost my shit.
Fuck. She’s been like this for Jake to see? Haven’t I warned her before now? Fuck. She’s always so stubborn to the bone.
And why the fuck was she even wearing something I didn’t buy for her? The last time I checked, I had gradually changed her wardrobe until she had none of her old clothes. She only had brand new clothes, which I either bought for her myself or went with her to buy.
A low growl built in my throat, and I forced it down, biting the inside of my cheek. I felt like ripping off the clothes from her body.
Zeth, the clueless fucker, had been struggling to take control. He wants nothing but to claim our mate immediately and put our mark on her.
“Mine,” he snarled. Over and over.
I gritted my teeth, locking him down with every ounce of willpower had left.
I had to keep him in check. I wouldn’t want to do anything else that would upset Mine. She’s already upset enough.
She didn’t need a possessive, snapping Alpha right now. She needed someone grounded who could think straight for both of us.
But hell, even I was unraveling.
I was worried at first, sincerely, about her transition. Only a few female wolves successfully transitioned while pregnant. The rest lose their pregnancies in the process.
Thankfully, our baby was still intact.

Those words hit differently. Felt satisfying. Sacred. Real. Unbelievable.
I’m going to have a child with the woman I’ve loved for nearly all my life. The one I dreamt of holding. Protecting. Growing old beside.
Fuck. How do I contain this excitement?
A lump swelled in my throat. I couldn’t breathe right. Couldn’t even process the way that simple truth made my entire body hum with pride and raw satisfaction.
She shifted in her sleep, and the hem of those fucking shorts lifted just enough to reveal more of her thighs. My jaw tensed. I had to look away, forcing my eyes back on the road before I lost control and veered off the damn highway.
She was too beautiful.
Too perfect.
Too fucking mine.

But right now, all I could do was drive–grip the wheel tigliter, shove Zeth back into the back of my mind, and pray to the Moon Goddess I’d make it home without losing my shit completely.
The moment I brought the car to a stop in the parking lot, I stepped down and slammed the door shut, rounding the car to the other side of the backseat where she lay.
My hand hovered over the door handle for a moment, my fingers twitching with restraint. Fuck. I didn’t trust myself not to touch her tonight. Not after she had aroused me more than I could bear.
I yanked the door open and reached for her.
It was almost 1 AM, and the world was quiet.
And call me selfish, but I brought her straight to our home, ignoring the fact that Jorja had been dying to know if her daughter was fine. Well, she was now my mate, and from this moment on, I decide what she does, where she goes, and who she sees.
That might make me sound like a bastard, but I’ve waited too long and bled too much not to savor every fucking satisfaction that comes with Kasmine being my fated mate.
As long as Karina was out of the way, I was free to return to my house while my Beta and Gamma took care of pack matters in my absence. The company also needs my presence, especially after finding out that there might be another mole working for Kex.
I bent slightly, scooping her sleeping form into my arms with care, letting her head nestled into my chest as her sweet, sugary, intoxicating scent of fresh Jasmine and wild honey laced with burnt vanilla wrapped around me like a balm to my troubled soul… It was sweet enough to rot my teeth and warm enough to burn.
It was the kind of scent that made a male’s restraint unravel, thread by thread. Her scent was designed to destroy my self–control.
I kicked the bedroom door shut with my foot, laying her gently on my bed.
Yes. My bed.
