_Mira’s POV
The room was suffocating, the air thick with tension. My heart raced as I stared at Aaron, his hand steady on the knife pressed against Luna Marinette’s throat. A thin line of blood trickled down her neck, and her wide, terrified eyes pleaded silently for help. I felt frozen in place, my body trembling as panic coursed through me.
“Don’t move, anyone,” Aaron growled, his voice cold and sharp. “Or your precious Luna dies.”
Alpha Roger’s roar of anger filled the hall. “Stop this! What do you want? Let her go!” His fists were clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. He looked like he wanted to tear Aaron apart with his bare hands, but he didn’t dare make a move. None of us did.
Aaron’s lips curled into a sinister smirk. “What I want is simple,” he said, his tone mockingly calm. “Hand over Mira to me, and I’ll let your wife go, Alpha.”
The blood drained from my face, and my stomach churned. My name hung in the air like a death sentence. Everyone in the room turned to look at me, their faces a mix of fear and uncertainty. My legs felt like they would give out beneath me, but I forced myself to stand tall.
Killian’s hand tightened around mine. “No,” he said firmly, his voice like steel. “You will never get your hands on my wife.”
Aaron’s expression darkened, and he pressed the knife harder against the Luna’s throat. She whimpered in pain as more blood appeared. “Then prepare for her death,” Aaron spat. “You need to choose, Alpha Roger. Your wife or your son’s mate. Who do you want to save?”
Alpha Roger looked torn, his face pale and his eyes filled with anguish. He glanced at me, then at Luna Marinette, his mouth opening and closing as if the words wouldn’t come. My chest ached at the sight of his pain. I couldn’t let this happen.
“Killian,” I whispered, my voice shaking. “Let me go with him. It’s the only way to save your mother.”
“No.” Killian’s voice was low but fierce, his grip on my arm like a vice. “I won’t let you go to that monster. I. can’t lose you, Mira.”
I turned to him, tears welling in my eyes. “Killian, please. It’s more important to save your mother. I’ll be fine. I’m stronger now. I can handle this.”
Killian shook his head violently, his jaw tight. “I said no. I won’t let him take you. I’ll protect you, no matter
what.”
Aaron’s voice cut through our argument like a blade. “Tick–tock, Alpha. I’m losing patience. Make your decision, or I’ll make it for you.”
I felt a surge of frustration and fear. I hated being the cause of this impossible choice, and I hated that Aaron had the power to control us like this. But before I could say anything else, Killian leaned down, his lips brushing against my ear.
“I have a plan,” he whispered, so low that only I could hear. “But you have to trust me.”
I looked up at him, my heart pounding. “What plan?” I asked, my voice barely audible.

“You’ll pretend to agree to go with Aaron,” Killian said, his eyes locked on mine. “Walk toward him, but when you get close, act like you’ve slipped and fallen. It’ll distract him just long enough for our guards to attack from behind.”
I swallowed hard, the weight of his plan sinking in. It was risky–dangerous even–but I could see the determination in Killian’s eyes. He believed in me, and I had to believe in him. I nodded slowly. “Okay. I’ll do it.” Killian gave my hand a reassuring squeeze. “Be careful,” he murmured. “And whatever happens, know that I
love you.”
Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes, but I blinked them away and nodded again. “I love you too.”
Taking a deep breath, I stepped forward, my legs trembling. “Aaron,” I said, my voice louder now. “I’ll go with you. Just let her go.”
Killian’s grip on my hand loosened, and I felt his silent plea for me to be cautious. Aaron’s eyes lit up with triumph as he motioned for me to come closer. “Smart choice,” he said, his smirk widening. “Come here, Mira.
Slowly.”
I forced my feet to move, each step feeling heavier than the last. The entire hall was silent, the only sound the faint rustle of fabric as I walked. I could feel the weight of everyone’s eyes on me.
When I was just a few steps away from Aaron, I made my move. I gasped loudly, stumbling as if my heel had caught on the hem of my dress. My arms flailed, and I fell to the ground with a dramatic thud, crying out in mock pain. “Ow!”
Aaron’s attention shifted to me, his grip on the knife loosening ever so slightly. “What the-?”
That was all the opening we needed.
In that split second, Killian and the guards sprang into action. Two guards tackled Aaron from behind, forcing him to release Luna Marinette. She stumbled forward, clutching her neck, and Alpha Roger rushed to her side, pulling her to safety.
Chaos erupted as the guards fought Aaron’s men, but I kept my focus on Aaron. He shoved the guards off him and tried to run, shifting partially into his wolf form. His speed was impressive, and for a moment, it looked like he might escape.
But I wasn’t about to let that happen.
I closed my eyes, feeling the power within me stir. My bond with my wolf surged to life, and I focused all my energy on Aaron. A wave of heat coursed through me, and when I opened my eyes, they glowed with power. I raised my hand and directed my energy toward Aaron.

He was just a few steps from the door when the force hit him. His body jerked violently, and he collapsed to the ground with a loud thud. He groaned, trying to push himself up, but he couldn’t move. My ene in place, pinning him down like an invisible weight.
The guards quickly surrounded him, securing his arms and legs with iron shackles. Aaron thrashed weakly, his strength drained. I let out a shaky breath, lowering my hand as the power faded.
Killian was at my side in an instant, his arms wrapping around me. “Are you okay?” he asked, his voice full of
concern.
“I’m fine,” I said softly, leaning into him. “Is everyone else okay?”

He nodded. “Thanks to you. You were incredible, Mira.”
Alpha Roger approached us, his arm around Luna Marinette, who was being tended to by a healer. “You saved her,” he said, his voice thick with emotion. “You saved my wife. Thank you, Mira.”
I smiled weakly, exhaustion beginning to set in. “I couldn’t let him hurt her. Or anyone else.”
Aaron growled from where he lay, glaring up at us. “You think this is over the spat, his voice filled with venom. “You’ll regret this.”
Killian stepped forward, his expression cold and unyielding. “You won’t threaten anyone ever again, Aaron.
This ends here.”
The guards hauled Aaron to his feet, his body still weak from my attack. As they dragged him away, the room slowly began to calm. The guests who had been cowering in fear now began to emerge. I could see the relief
on their faces.
Killian turned back to me, pulling me into his arms. “You were amazing,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “I don’t know what I would do without you.”
I smiled up at him, my heart full despite the chaos. “We’re a team, Killian. We’ll face whatever comes together.
He nodded, his dark eyes shining with pride. “Together.”
