Chapter 82
Mira’s POV
The next morning, I woke up in Killian’s arms. His warmth surrounded me, and for a moment, I felt like
nothing else in the world mattered. His steady breathing was soothing, and I smiled as I snuggled closer to
him.
He stirred and opened his eyes, giving me a sleepy grin. “Good morning, beautiful,” he said, his voice deep
and husky from sleep.
I felt a blush creep up my cheeks. “Good morning,” I whispered, my heart fluttering at the way he looked at
- me.
He leaned forward and kissed me on the cheek. “Did you sleep well?”
I nodded. “I did. It’s the first time in a while that I felt… safe.”
Killian’s gaze softened, and he brushed a strand of hair from my face. “You’ll always be safe with me, Mira. I’ll
make sure of it.”
I believed him. There was a sincerity in his eyes that made me feel like I could trust him with anything.
“What about you?” I asked. “Did you sleep well? You’ve been so worried about me.”
He chuckled, his hand gently tracing patterns on my arm. “How could I not sleep well when I have you in my
arms? You’re all I have ever wanted, Mira.”
My breath hitched, and I couldn’t help but smile. “You’re such a smooth talker,” I teased.
He smirked, leaning in closer. “Only for you.”
I laughed softly, feeling light and happy in a way I hadn’t in so long. “You’re impossible,” I said, though there
was no heat in my words.
“And yet, you love me,” he countered, his tone playful but his eyes filled with affection,
I couldn’t argue with that, so I just nodded. “I do,” I admitted softly.
Killian’s smile grew, and he pulled me closer, his lips brushing against mine in a tender kiss. “You have no
idea how much that means to me, Mira.”
Before I could respond, there was a sudden knock at the door, followed by a deep, commanding voice.”
Killian, are you still sleeping? It’s late! I need to talk to you about something important. Open the door!”
I froze, my heart pounding in my chest. “It’s Alpha Roger,” I whispered, panic rising in me. “I can’t stay here.
What will he think if he sees me?”
Killian placed a calming hand on my shoulder. “Don’t panic,” he whispered. “Go to the bathroom. I’ll handle
this.”
I nodded quickly, wrapping the bedsheet around me as I slipped out of the bed. My heart raced as I hurried to the bathroom, closing the door behind me.
Through the door, I could hear Killian moving around, putting on his clothes. A moment later, he opened the
door.

Chapter 82
“What took you so long?” Alpha Roger’s voice was stern. “You’re going to be the future Alpha soon, Killian You need to be more responsible. You knew we had an important meeting with the Alphas of the nearby packs today concerning the recent attacks, and you’re still sleeping?”
“I’m sorry, Dad,” Killian said, his tone respectful but firm. “Tll be ready in just a few minutes. Please give me a
moment.”
There was a brief silence before Alpha Roger responded, “Fine. But hurry up. Il be waiting for you
downstairs.”
I heard the door close, and then Killian’s footsteps approached the bathroom. He knocked lightly before speaking. “It’s safe to come out now.”
I opened the door cautiously, peeking out before stepping into the room. “That was too close,” I said, my voice still shaky from the rush of adrenaline.
Killian gave me a reassuring smile. “It’s fine. He didn’t suspect a thing.”
I shoved his shoulder playfully. “You need to check if the hallway is clear. I can’t risk anyone seeing me leaving your room.”
Killian chuckled but nodded. “All right, stay here. I’ll make sure it’s safe.”
He opened the door and peeked into the hallway, glancing both ways before turning back to me. “It’s clear.
You can go.”
I gathered my courage, clutching the sheet tightly around me as I made my way to the door. Before stepping out, I glanced back at Killian. “Thank you,” I said softly.
He smiled, his eyes warm. “Always.”
I hurried to my room, my heart still racing. Once I was inside, I leaned against the door, letting out a shaky breath. My mind swirled with emotions–relief, embarrassment, and the lingering warmth of Killian’s
presence.
As I got dressed, I couldn’t stop thinking about the way he had handled the situation so calmly. He made me feel safe, even in moments of chaos. And as much as I hated the close call, a part of me couldn’t help but smile at the thought of Killian’s protective nature.
My life had changed so much in such a short time, but for the first time, I felt like I wasn’t facing it all alone. Killian was by my side, and I knew that together, we could face anything.
