_Mira’s POV_
I woke up to the feeling of strong arms wrapped around me. For a moment, I was disoriented. I never woke up like this–warm, secure, and… completely entangled with someone else.
When I turned my head slightly, my eyes landed on Killian, deep in sleep beside me. His dark lashes rested against his cheeks, and his face was so relaxed that he looked years younger. He didn’t look like the guarded, frustrated young man I had come to know recently. Instead, he looked almost… innocent. Peaceful.
Then, the events of last night came rushing back to me. The kiss. The confession. The promises we made. My heart raced as I remembered telling him I would try to give us a chance–a real chance at something more. I had never seen him so vulnerable, and it had pulled something out of me I hadn’t realized was there. I tried to slide out from under his arm, careful not to wake him, but his grip only tightened.
“Mira, don’t go,” he murmured, his voice husky with sleep. His eyes opened slowly, locking onto mine. A small smile tugged at his lips, making him look even more handsome.
“Good morning,” he said, leaning forward to press a soft kiss to my lips before I could even respond. The kiss was warm and unhurried. It was a stark contrast to the desperation of last night.
“Good morning,” I whispered, my cheeks heating.
“You look beautiful when you’re blushing,” he teased, his hand gently brushing a strand of hair away from my
face.
“Killian,” I said, trying to sound firm, but my voice betrayed me, trembling slightly. “I need to go back to my room. What if my dad or your parents find us here… like this?”
His grin widened. “Why would that be a problem?”
I stared at him, incredulous. “Are you serious? They would have a million questions! What would we even say?
Killian’s smile faltered, and his dark eyes grew serious. “Mira, you were supposed to be my mate. Everyone knows it. If they have a problem with us being together, that’s on them–not us.” His voice softened as he added, “The truth is, I am the one who messed everything up, not you. You were always meant to be mine.” The sincerity in his voice made my chest ache. I wasn’t used to hearing him speak like this–so open, so raw. I opened my mouth to respond, but before I could, he pulled me down, pinning me gently to the bed. “Killian-“I started, but he silenced me with another kiss. This one was more urgent, more passionate. His hands slid to my waist, pulling me closer, and I felt the warmth of his body against mine. My head was spinning, and my heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest.
“Stay,” he whispered against my lips. “Just for a little while.”
“I really can’t,” I said, but my resolve was slipping fast.
He smirked, his lips brushing against my jawline. “You’re still here, though. If you really wanted to leave, you would be gone by now.”
I let out a shaky laugh, swatting his chest lightly. “You’re impossible, you know that?”

“Impossible?” he repeated, mock–offended. “I prefer to think of myself as charming.”
“Arrogant is more like it,” I shot back, trying to suppress a grin.
“Arrogant?” He chuckled, his hands sliding under the hem of my shirt. His touch was gentle, his fingers trailing over my skin as if he were memorizing the feel of me. “Does this feel arrogant to you?”
My breath hitched as his hands moved higher, brushing against my ribs. “Killian…” I murmured, my voice
barely above a whisper.

He paused, his dark eyes meeting mine. “Tell me to stop, and I will,” he said softly. “But if you don’t, I’m going
to keep going.”
I swallowed hard, my emotions a whirlwind of confusion, desire, and something I couldn’t quite name. “I think
you need to slow down,” I said, my cheeks burning.
Killian’s expression softened and he nodded. “Fine,” he said, his voice low and teasing. “We’ll go at your pace. But don’t expect me to make this easy for you.”
I raised an eyebrow at him. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He grinned and leaned down to press a kiss to the corner of my mouth. “It means I’m going to make it very, very hard for you to resist me.”
I rolled my eyes but I couldn’t hide my smile. “You’re so full of yourself.”
“Only because I know what I want,” he said, his gaze locking onto mine. “And right now, I want you, Mira.” My heart skipped a beat at the intensity in his voice. I looked away, suddenly feeling shy, but he caught my chin gently, turning my face back to his.
“Don’t hide from me,” he said softly. “I want to see all of you. Every expression, every thought, every emotion. You’re incredible, Mira. Don’t ever doubt that.”
I felt a lump rise in my throat, and I had to blink back tears. “Killian… you’re not playing fair.”
He laughed, the sound low and rich, and it sent a shiver down my spine. “I told you I wasn’t going to make it
easy.”
I pushed lightly against his chest, trying to sit up. “I really do need to go back to my room. We can’t risk anyone seeing us like this.”
He sighed dramatically, loosening his grip just enough for me to sit up. “Fine. Go. But don’t think for a second that this is over.”
I glanced at him over my shoulder as I stood. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means,” he said, his eyes glinting with mischief, “that I’m going to spend every waking moment making you fall for me, Mira. Completely. Hopelessly.”
I laughed, shaking my head. “You’re unbelievable.”
“And you love it,” he called after me as I made my way to the door.
I paused, glancing back at him. His hair was tousled, his shirt still on the floor, and he was looking at me like
I was the only thing in the world that mattered.
Maybe he was right. Maybe I did love it.
