Chapter 51

Killian’s POV

Morning light filtered through the hospital blinds, casting a soft glow across Mira’s face. She stirred slightly, her eyelids fluttering. I leaned closer, my heart pounding. For hours, I had been waiting for this moment, and now it was finally here

Mira?I said softly, my voice filled with equal parts hope and trepidation

Her eyes opened slowly, those familiar brown irises meeting mine. A weak, groggy smile tugged at her lips. ”

Killian?she whispered, her voice barely audible

Relief hit me like a tidal wave. You’re awake,” I said, unable to keep the emotion from my voice. You’re safe

now, Mira. Everything is okay.”

She tried to sit up, wincing as she raised her hand to her temple. I gently placed a hand on her shoulder.”

Take it easy,I said. You’ve been through a lot. You hit your head, and you collapsed from exhaustion.”

Mira frowned, her fingers brushing against the bandage on her temple. II remember the towerthe forest

and then everything went dark.”

I nodded, my chest tightening at the memory. You were dehydrated and starving. You have been

unconscious for hours, but the doctor says you’re going to be fine. You just need rest.”

Her gaze softened, and she reached for my hand. You came for me,she said, her voice filled with gratitude

You risked everything to save me.”

I clasped her hand tightly, feeling the warmth finally returning to her skin. Of course, I did,” I said, my voice

firm. I would do it all over again if it meant keeping you safe.”

Before either of us could say more, the door opened, and the doctor stepped in. He offered a reassuring

smile. Good to see you awake, Mira,” he said, checking her vitals and making notes on his clipboard. Your

condition is improving, but you’ll need to stay here for a few more days to fully recover.”

Mira sighed softly but nodded. Thank you, doctor.”

He glanced at me. “Killian, if you need anything for her, let the nurses know.”

I gave him a curt nod. I will. Thank you.”

As the doctor left, I turned back to Mira. She still looked so frail, but there was a spark of determination in

her eyes. You don’t have to thank me,” I said, sitting down beside her. I should have found you sooner.

should have protected you better.”

She shook her head, a small smile gracing her lips. You did enough, Killian. You saved me. That’s all that

matters.”

I hesitated for a moment, then said, Aaron won’t hurt you anymore. He is dead.”

Her eyes widened briefly, then she relaxed. I didn’t think it was possible to stop him,she admitted. He was

always soruthless.”

He underestimated me,I said simply. And he underestimated you. You’ve been through hell, but you’re still

here. That says more about your strength than anything he ever did.”

She squeezed my hand weakly. Thank you, Killian,”

I stayed with her for a little while longer, talking quietly to keep her spirits up. Her voice was still faint, and her eyelids drooped with exhaustion, but she smiled occasionally, and that was enough for now. When she finally drifted back to sleep, I kissed her hand gently and stood

It was time to check on her parents

I made my way down the hallway to her mother’s room. The atmosphere there was somber. Mira’s father, Alexander, sat by his mate’s bedside, his face lined with worry and exhaustion. When he saw me, he stood slowly, his movements stiff and deliberate

Killian,” he said, his voice hoarse. You brought her back.”

I nodded, stepping closer. Mira is safe. She is resting now, and the doctor says she’ll recover.”

His shoulders sagged with relief, and he reached out to grip my arm. Thank you,” he said earnestly. For everything. I can’t imagine what would have happened if-His voice broke, and he shook his head. You saved my daughter. I owe you a debt I can never repay.”

You don’t owe me anything,I said firmly. I couldn’t let anything happen to her. She iseverything.”

He nodded, his expression softening. I know she is.”

I glanced at the bed where Mira’s mother lay. Her face was pale, her breathing shallow. How is she?I asked. Still unconscAlexandMira’s father said, his voice heavy. The injuriesthey were severe. The doctor is doing everything he can, but it’s a waiting game now.”

I placed a hand on his shoulder. She’s strong, like Mira. She’ll pull through.”

He gave me a faint, tired smile. I hope so.”

As I turned to leave, my gaze fell on the figure sitting outside the roomSophia. Her face was pale, her eyes red and puffy from crying. She looked up as I approached, and for a moment, I saw guilt flicker in her expression. She quickly averted her gaze, staring at the floor

Sophia,I said, my voice cold

She flinched but didn’t look up. Killian,” she whispered

You have a lot to answer for,I said, my tone sharp. If you hadn’t betrayed your own sister, none of this would have happened.”

Tears welled in her eyes, but I didn’t feel pity. I didn’t mean for it to go this far,she said, her voice trembling. “I was desperateI thought-”

You thought about yourself,” I interrupted. “And now look where it’s gotten you. Your sister nearly died, your mother is fighting for her life, and all of it is because of your greed.”

Her head bowed lower, and her shoulders shook with silent sobs. For a brief moment, I felt a flicker of satisfaction. She deserved this. She deserved to feel the weight of her actions

I didn’t want this,she murmured. I was wrong. I know that now.”

Too little, too late,” I said coldly. You have hurt your family more than anyone else ever could. And trust me, Sophia, you will pay for every mistake you have made.”

She didn’t respond, just sat there, her tears falling freely. I turned away, my anger simmering beneath the surface. Mira didn’t deserve a sister like her. None of them did

When I returned to Mira’s room, she was still asleep, her breathing steady and calm. The sight of her brought a sense of peace I hadn’t felt in days. But alongside it was a burning determination. Sophia had caused too much pain, and I wouldn’t stop until justice was served

I sat by Mira’s bedside, taking her hand in mine again. Rest now,I murmured. I’ll handle everything else.

promise.”

For the first time in what felt like forever, I allowed myself to hope
