Chapter 50
Killian’s POV
The car sped through the darkened forest road, headlights cutting through the shadows. I sat in the back
seat with Mira in my arms, her head resting limply against my shoulder. Blood seeped from the cut on her temple, staining the makeshift cloth I was pressing against it. She hadn’t stirred once since she collapsed,
and my chest felt tight with fear.
“Drive faster, Marcus!” I barked, my voice trembling despite my efforts to stay calm.
“I’m going as fast as I can,” Marcus replied, his grip tight on the steering wheel. “We’ll be there soon.”
Leo growled restlessly in my mind. She’s not waking up. What if-
“Don’t say it!” I snapped aloud, earning a wary glance from Marcus in the rearview mirror.
Leo’s agitation mirrored my own. He had been pacing in the recesses of my mind since we left the tower, blaming himself–and me. This is our fault, he snarled. If we hadn’t been so blind, if we hadn’t let Sophia
manipulate us….
I squeezed my eyes shut, guilt washing over me. Leo was right. If I had seen through Sophia’s lies sooner, none of this would have happened. Mira wouldn’t have been taken, wouldn’t have been tied up in that hellish
place, wouldn’t have collapsed from sheer exhaustion in my arms.
“I’ll fix this,” I whispered, more to myself than to Leo. “Once Mira is safe, Sophia will pay for everything she
has done. I swear it.”
Marcus spoke up, breaking the tense silence. “I called ahead. The Alpha is making sure the pack hospital is ready for her arrival.”
“Good. She needs help–now.”
The cloth I was holding against Mira’s wound was soaked through, and I cursed under my breath. Her skin was pale, her breathing shallow. I brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, my heart aching at how fragile
she looked.
“Mira, please,” I murmured. “You have to wake up. You’re stronger than this. Don’t leave me now.”
She didn’t respond. My voice cracked as I tried again. “You’re safe, Mira. We’re almost home. Just hold on.”
By the time we reached the pack hospital, my nerves were frayed. The car screeched to a halt, and Marcus jumped out to open the door. Nurses and a doctor were waiting with a stretcher, their faces calm but
focused.
“I’ve got her,” I said, stepping out carefully with Mira in my arms. The cold night air bit at my skin, but I barely
noticed.
“Let us take her, Alpha,” the doctor said gently.
Reluctantly, I placed her on the stretcher, my hands lingering for a moment longer than necessary. She looked so small, so vulnerable, lying there.
“She has been unconscious for over an hour,” I explained, my voice thick. “She has a cut on her temple and hasn’t eaten or drunk anything for days.”

Les growled. We should be with her.

My father accused shortly after, his expression a mix of relief and concern. “Killian,” he said, placing a hand on my shoulder “You found her
nodded, my jaw tight. “She is inside. The doctor is with her now”
He sighed, his shoulders relaxing slightly. “I’m glad she’s back. You did well.”
I didn’t feel like I had done well. Not when Mira was still unconscious, her life hanging in the balance.
The doors finally swung open, and the doctor emerged. I rushed to him, my heart pounding
“How is she?”
“She is stable. The out on her temple isn’t deep, and there’s no sign of a serious head injury. She lost consciousness due to exhaustion and dehydration. It seems she hasn’t eaten or had enough water for several days”
Relief flooded me, leaving me momentarily lightheaded, “Will she be okay?”
The doctor nodded, “Yes, but she needs rest and fluids. I want to keep her under observation overnight. If her condition improves, we can discharge her tomorrow.”
1 exhaled a shaky breath. “Can I see her?”
“She’s still unconscious, but yes, you can see her.”
He led me to a private room, where Mira lay in a hospital bed, an IV drip attached to her arm. She looked so peaceful, almost like she was sleeping. But the dark circles under her eyes and the pallor of her skin betrayed the toll the past days had taken on her.
I set down beside her, taking her hand in mine. It was cold, and I rubbed it gently between my palms, trying to
warm her
“I’m so sorry” I whispered. “For everything. For not protecting you, for letting you go through this alone. I should have seen through Sophia’s lies. I should have fought harder for you.”
Leo was quiet for once, his presence heavy with guilt. She deserves better than us.
“No” I said firmly, gripping her hand tighter. “We’ll make this right. I’ll make this right.”
Hours passed, and still, Mira didn’t wake. Nurses came and went, checking her vitals and adjusting the IV. I barely noticed them, my attention focused solely on her.
At some point, my father entered the room, his face lined with worry. “Killian,” he said softly.
”
“Im not leaving her,” I replied, my voice resolute.

He sighed but didn’t argue. “She is strong, just like her parents were. She’ll pull through.”
I nodded, not trusting myself to speak.
When my father left, I leaned closer to Mira, brushing a gentle kiss against her knuckles. “You have to wake up,” I said quietly. “I need you to wake up, Mira. I need to hear your voice, to see your eyes. You’re everything to me, and I was a fool to ever let you think otherwise.”
Her fingers twitched slightly in mine, and my heart leapt. “Mira?” I called, hope rising in my chest.
But she didn’t stir again, and the hope faded as quickly as it had come.
I stayed by her side through the night, refusing to leave. If she woke, I wanted to be the first thing she saw. And when she did, I vowed to do whatever it took to earn her forgiveness–and her trust–again.
