Chapter 25

_Killian’s POV_

The festival was buzzing with laughter and music as I moved through the crowd

trying to stay focused. There were so many peoplefaces blending into a sea of

strangers. My heart pounded as I scanned each person, hoping one of them would be

her. But as I pushed further into the crowd, the sheer size of it started to wear me

down. I hadn’t expected it to be this hard

I kept searching, looking closely at every face, even though part of me worried it was

hopeless. My chest grew tight as minutes passed. I felt the urge to just stop, catch

my breath, and regroup, but I knew I couldn’t waste any time. Mira was here, and I had

to find her

Finally, after what felt like hours, I felt drained. I paused, trying to regain my focus.

took a deep breath, convincing myself I just needed a moment. And then, as if the

Moon goddess herself had answered my plea, something incredible happened

Suddenly, I bumped into someone. I reached out instinctively, grabbing the person’s

arm to keep them from falling. The skin under my hand was soft. I realized with a jolt

that it was a woman. My eyes went up to meet her face, and time stopped

It was Mira

Mira!I shouted, my voice filled with excitement and relief. I couldn’t believe it. She

was right here, right in front of me. After all this time, I had found her. Mira, it’s me!

said, grinning like an i***t, unable to keep the joy from my voice

But her reaction wasn’t what I expected. Her eyes filled with fear, and before I could

react, she pushed me away, stumbling back. Then, without a word, she turned and started running

Mira, wait!I called after her, panic creeping into my voice. Why was she running

from me? I didn’t understand, but I wasn’t going to lose her again. I pulled out my

phone, breathlessly dialing Hayden as I sprinted after her

Hayden, tell Pete to stop searching! I found her,” I said between gulps of air. She is

running toward the main gate.”

I ended the call and focused on her silhouette darting through the crowd. She was

fast, but I pushed myself harder, heart pounding as I weaved through the

festivalgoers, never taking my eyes off her

I ran and ran, desperation fueling my every step. I couldn’t let her slip away, not now. Eventually, I closed the gap between us, finally catching up to her just before she

reached the gates. I grabbed her gently from behind, feeling her Struggle against me as if she thought I was a stranger

Mira, it’s me,I said softly, holding her as carefully as I could. What is wrong? Why

are you running?”

But she kept fighting me, her whole body trembling. And then I noticed something that broke my heartshe was crying. Her shoulders shook, and she lookedterrified. This wasn’t the Mira I remembered. This was someone who seemed like she was

trying to escape from a nightmare

I pulled her closer, wrapping my arms around her as gently as I could. It’s okay, Mira. I am here. You’re safe now,1 murmured, stroking her hair in an attempt to calm her.

am here, and I’ll take you back home. You don’t have to be afraid anymore.”

She didn’t answer, only cried harder, her shivering increasing as I held her. I hated seeing her like this. I felt like I had failed her, and guilt gnawed at me, remembering every wrong decision that had led us to this moment

Mira…I started, my voice breaking. I’m sorry. I know I hurt you, and I regret it every single day. Sophia…. she betrayed me, and I was a fool to believe her. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness, but I swear, if you give me another chance, I’ll make things right. Justplease, come back home with me.”

She was silent, but her tears continued to fall. Her body shook with each sob, and it

was like she was battling some inner horror. What had happened to her? I looked

down at her, desperate for any hint of what was wrong

Miraplease, tell me what happened,I whispered, barely holding back my own

emotions

But she didn’t speak. Her silence filled the air, each unspoken word thickening the

tension between us. I could feel her fear, her sadness. It was so raw that it almost

overwhelmed me

Then, I heard footsteps approaching quickly. Pete and Hayden came into view, looking as shocked as I felt to find us like this. They exchanged worried glances, and I raised a hand, motioning for them to remain silent
