Chapter 19
_Mira’s POV_
That night, I fell asleep with a deep sense of dread, as though something dark awaited me in my dreams. And I wasn’t wrong.
In my dream, I was in a forest. It was dark, and shadows crept over the trees. I could hear distant sounds–the hoot of an owl and the rustling of leaves. But soon, another sound cut through the stillness: footsteps, quick and frantic, crunching on dry leaves.
I turned toward the noise and saw her–a woman, running through the trees. Her dress was a soft blue, flowing and light, like something from another time. The moonlight glinted off her blonde hair, making it glow as she ran. She looked so nervous, so desperate to escape. I started running after her, trying to keep up. But her pace was fast, almost too fast, and I struggled to stay close.
Then, I saw him. He stood in her path, tall and menacing, his face shadowed, but his eyes burned with anger. His clothes were strange, old–fashioned, as if from another era. He looked like Aaron…but there was something different, something darker about him.
“Isabella!” he shouted, his voice harsh and full of anger. “How far do you think you can run? I’ll catch you, just like I always do,”
The woman–Isabella–tried to run faster, but her foot caught on a root, and she fell to the ground. She looked up at him, her face pale and fearful.
“Please,” she begged, her voice breaking. “Please, let me go. I haven’t done anything wrong.”
The man sneered, his face twisted in hatred. “This is all your fault. How could the Moon Goddess choose a lowly omega like you to be my mate? You have ruined everything.”
She shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. “I didn’t choose this. It was the Goddess’s decision. I never wanted this.”
But his anger only grew. “You are still going to pay for it.”
He lunged forward and struck her. I wanted to scream, to do something, but I was

frozen, trapped in the nightmare. I watched in horror as he hit her again and again, her cries echoing through the forest.

“No!” I screamed, trying to reach out to her. But my hands went right through them, like I was nothing more than a shadow.
Then he pinned her down, tearing at her clothes, leaving ugly marks on her fair skin. Blood dripped down her arms and shoulders as he forced her legs apart. She struggled, screaming, begging for mercy, but he only laughed, enjoying her pain. I watched, helpless, as he violated her, over and over, until she stopped screaming… until she was silent and still.
I woke up screaming.
Strong arms wrapped around me, and I fought against them, desperate to escape the nightmare. “Mira, wake up!” a familiar voice said, gentle but firm. “It is me, Mira. It is Aaron.”
I blinked, my breath coming in gasps, and I looked up, still trapped in the horror of the dream. Aaron’s face came into focus, and I scrambled backward, nearly falling off the bed.
“Mira!” He reached out, worry etched across his face, his hand hovering as if unsure whether to touch me again.
I pulled my knees to my chest, feeling tears pricking at my eyes. I couldn’t stop shaking. “It…it was just a dream,” I whispered, as if saying it aloud would make it true.
Aaron sat beside me on the edge of the bed, watching me with a mix of concern and confusion. “You looked like you were in a battle. You were screaming so loud I thought…I thought something was attacking you.”
I took a shaky breath, still trying to calm down. “I… I don’t want to talk about it.”
His hand reached out, hovering over mine before he rested it gently on top. “I understand. But, Mira, if this dream is affecting you like this, maybe talking will help.”
I looked at him, at the genuine care in his eyes, and something inside me softened. I could still feel the weight of the nightmare, the helplessness, the fear. And now, I felt
a terrible question burning in my mind.
“Why did the man look like you?” I blurted out before I could stop myself.

He blinked, taken aback. “Me?” He paused, processing my words. “What…what happened in the dream?”

I looked away, clenching my hands tightly together. “I saw…a woman. She was running in the forest, and she was wearing strange clothes, like something from another time. A man chased her, and he…he hurt her. He said horrible things to her. He…he blamed her for being his mate.” My voice shook as I remembered every awful
detail.
Aaron listened quietly, his face growing more serious with each word I spoke. “And… you said he looked like me?”
I nodded, swallowing hard. “It wasn’t you, but he…he had your face, your eyes.” I
hesitated, unable to look at him. “He…he…did terrible things to her.”
Aaron’s hand tightened around mine. “Mira, I don’t know what you saw in your dream
or why you would see something like that. But I can promise you, I would never…
He stopped, his voice catching. “I would never hurt anyone like that.”
I dared to meet his gaze, seeing the sincerity, the pain in his eyes. “I know,” I
whispered. “It’s just… it felt so real. I felt like I was there, and I could do nothing to help
her.”
He exhaled slowly, then reached over to pour a glass of water from the pitcher on my
nightstand. “Here, drink this. It might help calm your nerves.”
I took the glass, my hands still trembling, and drank. The cool water helped ground
me, and I took a deep breath. “I don’t understand why I am having these dreams. First your great–grandparents…and now this.”
Aaron rubbed his chin, looking thoughtful. “Dreams are strange things, Mira. Some
people say they are just random images, but sometimes, they are more than that.”
“Do you think…” I trailed off, not sure how to ask the question burning in my mind. “Do you think I am dreaming about these things for a reason?”
He didn’t answer right away, his gaze distant. “Maybe. I have heard of old souls, people who are connected to the past in ways we can’t explain. Maybe there’s something in these dreams that wants you to know…something.”
I shivered at his words. “But why? Why would I be seeing these horrible things?”

Aaron looked at me, his expression solemn. “I don’t know. But whatever it is, you’re not facing it alone. You have me, and I’ll do everything I can to help you figure this
out.
His words brought a small comfort, and I let myself lean into his warmth, just for a moment. “Thank you, Aaron,” I whispered.
“Anytime, Mira,” he murmured, wrapping an arm around me. “You’re safe here.
Remember that.”
But as much as I wanted to believe him, the haunting images from my dream stayed with me, the screams echoing in my mind. And a nagging question remained: if the man in my dreams wasn’t Aaron, who was he…and what did he want from me?
