Chapter 11
When Charles and I arrived at the hospital room, Randy had just regained consciousness.
“Randy?”
I squeezed his hand gently.
His eyes immediately locked onto Charles standing behind me.
“Get him out!”
Though his voice was weak, the command was crystal clear.
Charles glanced between us, and without waiting for me to intervene, quietly slipped out.
“He’s just here to visit you.”
“I don’t care. I can’t stand that guy…”
“Like I’m thrilled with you now? Who the hell told you to play hero with a bomb? You promised you’d
come back!”
I was livid.
Randy quickly caught my hand:
“I had to make sure those guys couldn’t follow you…
“Cough! Cough! Lucky for me, your buddy took them out before I had to go through with it…”
Charles?
I was floored.
So Randy had fully intended to go down with George’s men.
But Charles had acted first, neutralizing them before Randy could detonate the bomb.
Randy had only been caught in the blast wave and wasn’t critically injured.
“So you… reborn too.”
He smiled without answering.

Chapter 11
“What’s wrong with you? You finally got me out of your hair. Isn’t that what you wanted?”
“Get rid of you? What are you talking about?”
He stroked my hair: “I’ve considered you as… my Wife for a long time.”
“That’s bullshit. We were…”
“Always fighting?”
“I definitely resisted at first. I thought the marriage is all because you were guilt–tripping me with your family’s help.
“But we spent thirty years, I should know my own heart.
“Our marriage started with fighting, and we just never figured out how to stop.
“My biggest regret was never telling you how I felt.
“Sarah, the truth is… I fell in love with you a long time ago.”
My eyes welled up:
“Forget it, you just can’t tell the difference between gratitude and real love.”
“How is that possible?”
“When I was reborn at my wedding with Beth, before I even knew you were supposed to be the bride, I already knew what my heart wanted!”
It’s like flipping a coin–the outcome doesn’t matter.
The most important thing is what you’re hoping for while the coin is still in the air.
“Really? Then I’ve made up my mind too.”
He watched me nervously.
“My fiancé.”
The day we returned to the States, Randy had prepared an elaborate wedding.
Charles attended as one of the groomsmen.
Randy was initially pissed about this arrangement, Until Charles finally opened up about his feelings:

Chapter 11
“I’ll be straight with you. I love her. In both lifetimes.”
“That’s exactly why I can’t live with myself for putting her in danger.
“If George hadn’t used me to get to her, she would never have been hurt.
“So I’m stepping aside, Wilson. Just promise you won’t make her cry all night like you did in our previous
life.”
“It won’t happen this time.”
At our wedding, as he slipped the diamond ring onto my finger, he whispered:
“Before, our marriage started with resentment.
“This time, I want to try something different.
“Sarah, I love you!
“And I’ll tell you that every single day for the rest of our lives.”
I looked
up
into his eyes:
“I love you too.”
