Chapter 119: Lucy

Lucy’s POV

I could feel the cold steel of the butcher knife just above my trembling hand, its sharp edge glinting menacingly in the dim light. Ross’s twisted smile grew wider as he raised the knife higher, his gaze never wavering from my exposed wrist. My heart raced, the fear so suffocating that it threatened to choke me

This was it. I could feel my breath hitch in my throat, tears streaming down my face. It felt like everything had led to this moment, and I was too weak, too helpless to stop it

I can’tI can’t take this

My body went numb, my mind slipping into a place of acceptance, where I could do nothing but wait for the inevitable

He’s going to take my hand. And there’s nothing I can do

I closed my eyes, the tears falling harder now, not from the pain I hadn’t felt yet but from the despair of knowing I was powerless. The world seemed to blur around me, and I could only focus on the sensation of the blade hovering above my skin, the terrifying sound of Ross’s breath as he drew the knife back to strike

Then, in a heartbeat, there was a deafening bang, the unmistakable roar of a gunshot, followed by the searing sting of something hot and wet splattering across my face

I gasped, my eyes snapping open in shock

The blood hit me like a splash, warm and thick, tiny droplets scattering across my face. It felt as if someone had thrown a heavy mist in my direction, and I recoiled in horror, my breath catching in my throat. But it wasn’t just the bloodit was the scene in front of me that made my heart freeze

Ross stood there, still. His face was a perfect picture of disbelief, eyes wide with confusionbut not for long. The bullet had struck him directly between the eyebrows, at the center of his forehead, leaving no room for mercy

His arms flailed briefly, as if he were trying to catch himself, but his legs buckled, sending him crashing to the floor with an almost unnatural heaviness. His body crumpled in a heap, and the sickening thud of his fall was drowned out by the vision of his foreheada gory crater, a mangled mess where his mind once was

I could barely breathe. My pulse was erratic, my chest tight as I stared at the blood, now tainting my hand, once again. I hadn’t even realized I was still crying until the salty tears mixed with the blood, and I could taste it on my lips

Was I saved

My hand still lay motionless on the table, and I wasn’t sure if I was still dreaming, if I was imagining the whole thing. But then, a voice broke through the chaos, calm and steady

Lucy, don’t worry, you’re safe now.”

I snapped my head towards the door, my body tense, ready for whatever came next. Standing there, in the doorway, was a police officer. He was older, with a commanding presence, and the way he stood there, his posture assured, told me he was in control

He flashed an ID at me, his voice unwavering. ACP Derek Klein,” he said, his eyes kind but firm. I came to rescue you.”

I blinked, still trying to process everything. The fear, the blood, the relief that washed over me like a tidal wave

YYouyou’re here?My voice came out a whisper, still shaking from the shock, from the terror of what had just happened

He nodded, his gaze never leaving me as he approached cautiously, making sure I was unharmed. You’re safe now. Just breathe.”

I wanted to do as he said, but my body felt like it was stuck in a freeze. I couldn’t understand what was happening or why t was still here, alive. I kept seeing Ross’s face, the bloodand I couldn’t quite register that the nightmare was over

But it was. It was over

The sharp, sterile scent of antiseptic clung to the air, seeping into my skin with every shallow breath I took. The rhythmic drip of the IV, its steady pulse a reminder of my fragility, echoed in the otherwise suffocating silence of the hospital room. My thoughts, however, refused to stay stillno matter how hard I tried to push them away

Ross’s face, shattered by that brutal gunshot, Successfully unlocked! my mind

No, it’s not traumatising me, in fact now that I know he is gone for youu, i can finally sleep peacefully

He thought he’d outsmarted everyone by deactivating his ankle monitor. But what he didn’t know was that his robotic hand

had a tracking feature in it and the police managed to track him through that. Looks like he never bothered to read the manual, because if he had, he would have definitely known about the tracking feature in his hand

Chapter 110 Lucy

So, here’s the lesson of the day: Always read the manual. It might save you from thinking you’re smarter than you really are

Lucy,I heard Kaiden’s voice and yanked my gaze towards the door. My heart skipped a beat at the sight of him, and before I could say anything, he was already by my side, pulling me into a tight hug

Introvert,he murmured, his arms wrapping around me, checking me over like he was afraid I might break. You’re not hurt, are you?”

I’m fine,” I told him, pulling back slightly, trying to reassure him with a small smile. The doctor just gave me some Ivdrip. That’s it.”

He let out a breath of relief and pulled me right back into another hug. God, I am glad you are safe and sound. I missed you so much,he said, his voice thick with emotion

I missed you more,” I whispered, hugging him tighter, not wanting to let go

After a moment, he pulled back, but there was something in his eyes that made my stomach tighten. It wasn’t the usual warmth, but something deeper. Something heavier

By the way, your momHis voice trailed off as he searched for the right words

My heart hammered in my chest at the way mentioned her. She is?I asked, trying to keep my voice steady, even though! felt a knot forming in my stomach

Kaiden hesitated, his eyes flicking away for a moment before meeting mine again. SheHe paused, clearly struggling with what he wanted to say
