Sophia sneezed unexpectedly.
She awkwardly pulled out a tissue to wipe her nose.
In the next moment, she was wrapped in a black coat.
“Mr. Fuller is so good to his girlfriend. When are you two getting married?” someone asked.
“We haven’t-”
“Soon!” Troy interrupted.
Sophia looked at Troy in surprise.
Troy’s large hand gently ruffled her hair. When Sophia instinctively backed away, she ended up pressing closer to him.
From an outsider’s perspective, they looked extraordinarily intimate.
Mrs. Chen stood nearby, smiling warmly. “You two are perfect together. I must come to your wedding!”
Mrs. Chen was the person Troy had mentioned to Sophia.
Seeing the situation, Sophia assumed this was part of Troy’s plan and reluctantly played along.
As the reception neared its end, Mrs. Chen bid them a fond farewell.
After sending her off, Sophia finally relaxed, finding a place to sit and rubbing her sore ankles.
She hadn’t worn high heels in years, let alone engaged in such intensive networking.
Tonight, she had conversed with Mrs. Chen for hours without a single wasted word, laying groundwork for Troy’s project.
While she focused on massaging her ankle, someone suddenly crouched before her.
Troy’s well–defined hand reached unhesitatingly for Sophia’s ankle.
Sophia instinctively tried to pull her foot away.
“Don’t move,” he commanded.
Troy’s large hand carefully rubbed the area.
“The back is scraped. I’ll get a bandage–wait here like a good girl.”
Troy spoke to her as if addressing a child, leaving Sophia momentarily stunned. Somehow, she found herself noddin obediently.

Chapter 16
Shortly after Troy left, two men approached from behind her, collapsing exhausted onto nearby chairs, immediately complaining.
“The boss is obsessed lately–making me buy flowers, collect auction items. Can you believe it? Today’s venue, inside and out, top to bottom, was all designed by him. He drew the blueprints himself and had me prepare everything meticulously.”
“Isn’t that normal? The Chen family project is important to him.”
“I’ve always said you’re clueless! Is the boss doing this for the Chen family? That project is already in the bag–they have no choice but to work with our boss!”
“Then what’s this all about?”
“Come here, dummy, I’ll tell you secretly!”
Sophia lowered her eyes, even her breathing becoming quieter.
“The boss is doing this for Miss Reed!”
“From the first day he knew Miss Reed was coming here, the boss converted two floors of the corporate building–repainting and remodeling everything inside and out, personally overseeing every detail. This prime real estate, he just transformed into an exhibition hall!”
“The night Miss Reed agreed to play along with his plan, the boss was so excited he couldn’t sleep. He dragged me through the entire night talking about his history with Miss Reed. I was exhausted, but when I looked up–guess what I saw?”
Sophia’s heart skipped a beat.
The other man grew more curious.
“What did you see? Tell me, don’t keep me in suspense!”
“Hehe, you
wouldn’t believe it even if I told you. I saw our boss turning his face away, secretly wiping tears! He kept muttering Miss Reed’s name, saying he could finally stand by her side openly!”
“Whoa! I never imagined our boss was such a romantic!”
“What are you two talking about?”
Troy suddenly appeared, his eyes nervously scanning the down–turned head of Sophia.
The two men, meeting his dangerous gaze, realized that the person sitting in front of them was the very Miss Reed they’d been discussing.
Terrified, they turned and ran.
Troy stood awkwardly, not knowing what to say. Sophia remained silent, leaving him uncertain how much she’d he
This close, she probably heard everything.
But if she’d heard everything, why was Sophia showing no reaction?

Chapter 16
Troy felt slightly panicked, a hint of disappointment clouding his eyes.
In the next moment, Sophia spoke softly.
“Weren’t you going to put a bandage on my foot?”
Troy blinked, seeing Sophia’s slightly curved lips. He finally regained his composure,
“I need to disinfect it first.”
Troy’s feelings for Sophia had always been his most deeply buried secret.
When Sophia married, he hadn’t attended, but traveled around the world, silently collecting precious artifacts for her.
Later, he anonymously donated those artifacts to Sophia’s studio.
He never told anyone about this or let Sophia discover it.
His love was careful and delicate.
Though Sophia could clearly walk, Troy insisted on carrying her.
She didn’t miss the slight curve of his lips.
When Ethan reached the reception hall, he learned the event had already ended.
He pretended to be an invited guest who had left something inside, explaining he had returned to find it.
The staff, seeing his expensive clothes despite his visual impairment, hesitated but decided to let him in.
But the next moment, the doors opened from within.
