Ethan’s heart suddenly fraze, and his fingers tightened around the phone
After a moment, he smiled wryly,
“What? Has she come complaining to you?”
“I said I won’t remove those negative articles unless the apologizes, and 1 mean it. If the has something to say, the can come

Before his mother could respond, Ethan hung up.
“What did Ethan say? Should we keep searching?
His mother was completely confused by his words, her brow furrowed with worry.
“The plane crashed into the sea. Finding her would be nearly impossible now. I should call Meredith first–she’s Sophia’s mother, after all. We should follow her wishes.”
After hanging up, Ethan also forgot about the package, his mind filled with thoughts of Sophia trying to use his mother against him.
How naive she was. His mother was the last person whose opinion would sway him.
“Ethan, did you hear what I said?” Veronica tugged at his arm.
Ethan frowned absently, “Yes, I’ll make arrangements to leave soon.”
He hadn’t really been listening to what Veronica was saying
She wanted him to divorce Sophia and marry her instead.
She said she didn’t want to leave the city or continue their relationship without official status.
In the past, when she looked at him that way, Ethan would have immediately softened.
But now, for some reason, the thought of divorcing Sophia filled him with inexplicable discomfort.
He changed the subject, pretending not to hear.
Ethan checked his phone again, but Sophia still hadn’t replied to his messages.
He knew how damaging those photos and videos were to Sophia.
After that incident, she had suffered sleepless nights and needed 24–hour supervision.
Though he hated to admit it, the thought of Sophia’s desperation made him regret his actions.
But then he thought about how Veronica had been attacked online, even having fake obituaries made of her…

He clenched his fist, his eyes fixed on Sophia’s bedroom window.
He stepped forward, his hand just touching the doorknob when his phone suddenly rang.
Seeing Veronica’s name, he hesitated for a second before answering. But before he could speak, he heard commotion on the other end, followed by Veronica’s terrified screams.
“Let go of me! Touch me and my boyfriend will destroy you!”
“Heh, you ungrateful girl. Have you forgotten how good your uncle has been to you all these years? Come on, let uncle touch you a bit, hehehe…”
“Get away from me!”
“You little bitch. Miss Reed offered me fifty million to take care of you. I suggest you stop struggling!”
Ethan gripped the phone so tightly his knuckles turned white. The words he was about to say died on his lips as the call abruptly ended.
He stormed to his car and rushed to the hospital.
When Ethan arrived, Veronica’s uncle was already being restrained by his men.
His eyes were cold as he walked up to the man and viciously kicked him in the face.
Veronica quickly hid behind Ethan.
“Ethan, the uncle said Miss Reed sent him. I know she might not like me, but how could she do something like this!”
Veronica cried until she fainted, giving Ethan no chance to speak.
Her words immediately enraged Ethan, and he glared at the man on the ground.
“Tell me clearly–did Sophia Reed pay you to do this?”
The man, terrified by Ethan’s gaze, trembled as he nodded. “Y–yes, Miss Reed ordered it!”
The moment he finished speaking, there was a shattering sound.
Ethan had broken a nearby glass, the veins on his forehead pulsing violently.
With one look, he directed his assistant to remove the man.
In his fury, Ethan completely missed the telling glance exchanged between the man and Veronica.
After calming the crying Veronica, he once again tried to call Sophia.
This time, her phone was turned off.
His lips tightened as he thought of his mother’s call, assuming Sophia had fled to the Fuller family mansion.
Ethan grabbed his car keys and headed there.

When Ethan arrived at the mansion, his mother had just finished talking with Sophia’s mother overseas.
Meredith suggested they stop looking.
She was still mourning Sophia when she saw Ethan storming toward her.
