Chapter 4
The nurse’s words caught in her throat, and she sighed before reinserting the IV.
The door opened again as another nurse came in to register her information, chatting as she wrote.
“People really are different. Look at Mrs. Fuller in the other ward–she only got scared, and Mr. Fuller called in specialists for a consultation. Waking them up in the middle of the night to come to the hospital–being his wife must be like heaven!”
Sophia couldn’t help but laugh at this, though tears glistened in her eyes.
After consulting seven or eight specialists, Ethan finally felt reassured about Veronica’s condition.
As his rationality gradually returned, he suddenly remembered Sophia.
He frowned and called her repeatedly, but no one answered.
After glancing at the resting Veronica, he quietly grabbed his coat and left.
Sophia had hired a broker to handle the sale of her studio space.
“Miss Reed, these things look valuable. Why are you burning them?” the broker asked with shock as Sophia threw item after item into a fire pit.
With an expressionless face, Sophia picked up an inconspicuous diary and tossed it into the flames without hesitation.
The flames surged upward, burning her hand. The broker quickly pulled her back.
“What are you doing?” a voice demanded.
