HE STOLE 25
Chapter 3
When Ethan returned, he had showered.
Seeing Sophia still asleep, he leaned down to kiss her.
But as soon as he got close, the pungent perfume on him triggered a series of violent sneezes from Sophia, who covered her nose and gasped for air.
Ethan’s brow furrowed with concern as he quickly got up to open the window.
“Sorry, I forgot about your allergies. I’ll go shower again.”
When he returned, Sophia was already in the living room.
Looking at the empty dining table, Ethan seemed surprised. “No breakfast today?”
Sophia kept her eyes downcast, her expression blank. “Haven’t you already eaten?”
Ethan stared at her with a puzzled look.
“You posted on Facebook and changed your profile picture,” Sophia explained calmly.
Ethan frowned and checked his phone.
The Facebook post had been made by Veronica using his phone.
She had also changed his profile picture to match hers in a couple’s theme.
Ethan’s expression became slightly uncomfortable. He put his phone back in his pocket and smiled at her. “Probably my assistant’s son was playing with my phone at the office.”
Sophia’s heart plummeted, her finger joints turning cold as she stood motionless.
This was the second time Ethan had lied to her face.
While Sophia was still lost in thought, Ethan had already come downstairs with his suitcase.
“Babe, I need to go to our branch office for a few days. Your birthday is coming up–I’ll have a surprise for you when I get back!”
Sophia didn’t respond, just kept her head down, her gaze falling mockingly on the suitcase.
Ethan, seeing her like this, felt an inexplicable tightness in his chest. But before he could speak, his phone vibrated.
He glanced at the name on the screen, then quickly looked at Sophia to see if she had noticed. When she didn’t look his way, he went back to the bedroom to take the call.
Sophia heard the door lock click. She slowly bent down and opened the suitcase.
Then, in the hidden compartment of the suitcase, she found two unopened boxes of condoms.
She stiffly placed the suitcase back in its original position and gave a self–mocking smile.
In her previous life, after that dinner party, Ethan had also started frequently traveling for “business.”
Back then, she had worried about his health and prepared nutritious soups for him. Looking back now, she realized how foolish she had been!
After Ethan left, Sophia also went out.
She needed to ship the items from her studio overseas before her departure.

This scene left Sophia frozen in place.
She had seen this wild, violent side of Ethan before.
Back then, Ethan had been working day and night to start his own company.
Sophia, worried about him surviving on takeout and instant noodles, would cook meals at home and personally deliver them to him.
One rainy day, Sophia was forcibly dragged into an alley by two drunk men. Fortunately, a passerby rescued her at the last moment. When Ethan found out, he tracked down the two men to their homes.
When Sophia arrived, she was shocked by the scene–Ethan’s hands were bleeding, and the two men lay on the ground, convulsing
Ethan’s bloodshot eyes then were identical to what she was seeing now.
Sophia’s heart was full of cracks, each step forward unbearably heavy.
Looking at the enraged man before her, she slowly called out to him.
“Ethan.”
