Chapter 17
The heavy snow caused Daniel to fall into a high fever and unconsciousness once again.
In his delirium, he kept calling Sarah’s name, and his assistant, feeling sorry for him
used all kinds of connections overnight, hoping that Sarah would come to the hospital to see Daniel.
But in the end, the assistant only received a voice recorder from Edward, sent by a servant.
In the quiet room, only Daniel was there.
He stared at the voice recorder in his hand for a long time before pressing the play button.
After a burst of static, Sarah’s voice immediately filled his ears.
Her tone was somewhat mocking. “I don’t want to continue entangling with Daniel over those things. They only bring me more trouble, and nothing else. Never contact him again, never see him again. That’s the best ending for me and Daniel.”
In that brief sentence, Daniel played it over and over again.
He tried to convince himself that the recording had been faked.
But he was too familiar with Sarah’s voice, so familiar that he knew instantly that it was her real voice.
There was no possibility of forgery.
In every word, she was telling him that she didn’t like him, and there wasn’t even a trace of hatred in her voice.
The calm tone clearly told him-
Daniel, let go, there is no chance for you and her.
“Bang!”
The voice recorder was smashed to the floor with force.
His eyes were bloodshot as he clutched his chest and gasped for air.
This scene shocked the assistant who rushed in.
Before the assistant could speak, Daniel suddenly shouted, “Get out!”
The door to the hospital room was slammed shut again, and Daniel lay there in despair, his eyes filled with regret.
“Sarah…”
At the Price family, when they learned that the voice recorder had been sent into Daniel’s hands, the man sitting on the sofa smiled slyly.
This smile, like a breeze in spring, made Sarah, who was coming down the stairs from the corner, smile as well.
“What’s making you so happy?”
Edward quickly stood up and walked over, taking her hand as they descended the last step.
“A very interesting little thing.”
Sarah didn’t ask more questions and simply sat on the sofa with him.
The man’s strong arm tightly wrapped around her, and his face pressed against hers.
His warm breath on her ear made her itch, and she instinctively tried to avoid it.
But Edward suddenly became interested and kept blowing air into her ear.
Finally, unable to avoid it, Sarah was pressed down onto the sofa.
His warm lips covered hers, slowly stealing her breath, their tongues intertwining in a passionate kiss.
Sarah’s resistance grew weaker and weaker, and in the end, she closed her eyes, as if everything was inevitable.
She forgot to think, not wanting to think, only instinctively wanting to hold the man tighter, tighter.
When the kiss ended, Edward picked her up and walked upstairs, step by step.
Soon, sounds of muffled groans and soft breaths emerged from behind the thick doors.
The servants outside quickly bowed and silently retreated, while the moon in the sky quietly hid behind the clouds.
In the morning, the man turned Sarah over in his arms.
A flurry of kisses moved up from her shoulder, covered in kiss marks, until they landed on her soft lips.
When Sarah let out a dissatisfied sigh, Edward gently patted her, soothing her back to sleep.
When he went downstairs, he immediately saw a servant looking at him with difficulty.
“Mr. Price, there are suddenly a lot of gifts outside the front door. They’re for Mrs. Price, what should we do…?”
Although Sarah and Edward were only engaged, from the moment Sarah moved into the Price family, Edward had insisted
everyone
call her Mrs. Price.
Upon hearing this, Edward immediately guessed who had sent the gifts.
His expression didn’t change, but his tone remained calm. “Send them all back, don’t let Sarah know.”
