Chapter 17
Emma froze at the sight of the car racing straight at her.
Seeing the car speeding toward Emma, both Talon and Ryan panicked and rushed forward to pull her away.
“Emma! MOVE!”
Ryan was closer to Emma and yanked her aside.
But the car was moving too fast, and they were still hit.
Ryan shielded Emma in his arms as they tumbled to the side.
Emma’s head struck a nearby planter, while Ryan, holding her, had his leg hit by the car
and his arm injured during the fall,
Ignoring the pain in his leg and arm, Ryan immediately checked on Emma.
Seeing blood from Emma’s head injury and that she had lost consciousness, he shouted to
bystanders: “Call an ambulance, quickly!”
Talon also ran over, wanting to check Emma’s condition, but Ryan pushed him away with
what strength he had left.
“Why don’t you see what Sophia has done?” Ryan shouted at Talon.
In that critical moment, as Ryan held Emma, he had seen Sophia driving the car.
Talon looked toward the car and finally realized the driver was indeed Sophia.
Having hit Ryan and Emma, Sophia’s car had crashed into another planter.
The airbags had deployed, and the engine was smoking.
Talon walked to the car and pulled Sophia out.
Sophia’s head was also injured from the impact, and she seemed dazed when Talon

dragged her out,
Talon didn’t care about that, pushing Sophia to the ground.
“You actually dared to do something like this!”
“If Emma has any serious injuries, I will never let you off!”
Police sirens and ambulance wails approached from the distance.
When Emma regained consciousness, she was already in the hospital.
Looking at the hospital ceiling, she momentarily didn’t understand what had happened, then struggled to sit up.
The nearby nurse saw Emma moving and quickly came to stop her.
Emma grabbed the nurse anxiously: “Where’s Ryan? How is he?”
The nurse tried to calm Emma: “The man brought in with you is in the next room.”
“How is he? Is he seriously injured?”
Emma was so worried she was nearly crying, her voice trembling.
“He’s fine, just a fractured leg. The rest are minor injuries, nothing life–threatening.”
Though reassured, Emma couldn’t calm down–she needed to see Ryan with her own eyes.
Emma ignored the nurse’s attempt to stop her, insisting on seeing Ryan. As they were at an impasse, the door opened.
Ryan was being wheeled in by a nurse.
Seeing Ryan was okay, Emma/hugged him and burst into tears: “Thank goodness you’re alright.”
Ryan stroked Emma’s head, comforting her: “The doctor says you have a mild concussion and need bed rest for a while. You can’t get too emotional.”
Chapter 17
Ryan convinced Emma to return to her bed, then moved his wheelchair to her bedside to keep her company.
“Emma!”
The hospital room door was pushed open again as Talon entered carrying gift bags, his face
full of concern.
Both Ryan and Emma frowned at the sight of him.
“Get out!” Emma pointed at Talon.
Talon set his gifts aside, trying to explain to Emma:
“I didn’t know about Sophia’s plans. I…”
Before he could finish, Emma threw his gifts at him.
Talon stood there without dodging, letting Emma throw whatever she wanted.
“Emma, if this helps you forgive me, you can throw anything at me.”
Emma laughed coldly: “Talon, you think playing the victim will make me forgive you? Do
you think your half–hearted apologies can compensate for the pain I suffered for seven
years?”
Hearing Emma mention seven years, Talon excitedly stepped forward:
“Emma, you’ve regained your memory?”
At these words, Ryan glanced worriedly at Emma, unsure if the few months they’d spent
together could compare to Emma’s seven years with Talon.
Emma sensed Ryan’s concern and took his hand, then turned to Talon:
“Yes, I remember now, but Talon, what makes you think I’d come back to you?”
“In those seven years, did you ever show me any kindness? The only things you could find to help me remember are pathetic gifts I gave you. Do you have anything that captures memories between us?”
Chapter 17
Talon was silenced by Emma’s questions.
Emma continued: “Seven years is enough. You’re tired of it, and so am I. I’ve found someone I want to spend my life with. Please let me go.”
This was both a rejection and a plea.
“I’m sorry.”
With these words, Talon left the hospital room, almost fleeing.
“Emma, are you saying that the person you want to spend the rest of your life with is me?”
When Ryan asked this, his tone was both hopeful and nervous.
Emma squeezed Ryan’s hand tighter, looking firmly into his eyes.
E
“Yes, Ryan Morgan, I, Emma Pierce, want to spend my life with you.”
Meanwhile, outside the hospital room, Talon was grabbed by Sophia.
Sophia looked disheveled with a pale face, having lost all her former dignity.
She clutched Talon’s sleeve like a drowning person grasping at straws.
“Talon, I can’t go to prison. I can’t go to prison!”
Talon had released evidence of Sophia’s plagiarism along with her other misdeeds.
The impact on Morgan Industries from Emma’s alleged plagiarism had now completely rebounded onto Sophia and Sullivan Group.
Sophia had been fired from Sullivan Group, facing public condemnation online. Additionally, she was under investigation for deliberately trying to run over Emma, She faced several years in prison./
Sophia couldn’t accept this outcome. Her only hope was to beg Talon to help convince Emma to issue a letter of forgiveness.
Talon pried Sophia’s fingers off his sleeve one by one.
Chapter 17
“No, Talon, I’m begging you, save me. I was just impulsive at that moment. I didn’t want to kill her, I really didn’t want to kill her.”
Talon pushed Sophia to the ground: “Save those words for the police.”
