Chapter 58
Rachel’s POV
I wrinkled my nose as the sharp scent of disinfectant hit me.
The pristine white halls of the medical wing in Emerald Castle were spotless and sterile–perfect for medical care but absolutely awful for someone with heightened werewolf senses. Especially a pregnant werewolf.
Still, I couldn’t contain my excitement. Today was the day we might actually see our baby–our little cub.
My wolf had been restless all night, circling and pacing inside me with anticipation.
Emma’s face lit up when she saw me enter. “Good morning, Rachel! Her warm smile instantly made me feel at ease.
“Hi, Emma. Will we be able to see the baby today?” I couldn’t keep the eagerness from my voice.
“That’s the plan. We’ll try to do a proper ultrasound today. I know last time you were too early in your pregnancy and we couldn’t see moth, but now, we should be able to get real pictures.” She guided me to the examination room.
“Yes. I could hardly sleep last night. My wolf kept spinning with excitement.” I admitted, following her.
Emma checked my vitals, frowning slightly as she noted my tired eyes. “Are you having trouble sleeping? Quality rest is essential for
an Alpha–bloodline cub’s development.”
“Just excited… and thinking too much,” I confessed, not wanting to share that my sleepless nights were filled with thoughts of
Nathan’s plans to “release” me after the birth.
“I have some herbal tea–blessed by the Moon Goddess herself–that can help calm you and your wolf. It’s completely safe during werewolf pregnancy. You can drink a cup each night as needed.”
She glanced toward the door. “Is Alpha joining us today?”
“Well… it seems not.” I tried to keep the relief from my voice.
“Alright, impatient lady, let’s get started,” Emma said cheerfully as I lay back on the examination table.
Just as Emma squeezed the cold gel onto my still–flat stomach, a familiar pine scent filled the room, sharp and cold. My heart skipped a beat as Nathan entered, his tall frame dominating the doorway.
My wolf immediately responded, trying to move toward our Alpha despite my mental resistance.
“Alpha, perfect timing!” Emma exclaimed, genuinely surprised. “I wasn’t sure if Rachel told you about the appointment time change.”
“She didn’t.” Nathan’s eyes flashed golden.
“Oh! She must have forgotten. Pregnancy brain is very common, especially for mothers carrying Alpha–bloodline cubs. Don’t mind it. Emma’s eyes briefly met mine.
“Is that the baby there?” I quickly changed the subject, pointing to the screen where a small form was beginning to take shape.
“Yes! That’s it.” Emma smiled, turning to Nathan. “Your little cub looks very healthy.”
“Emma, there’s nothing more beautiful than this image…” I whispered, tears welling in my eyes as I stared at the tiny form on the
screen.

Chapter 58
The baby–my baby–was real. The connection I felt was overwhelming, as if I could already feel our mind–link forming.
1 can almost feel his heartbeat resonating with mine.
Nathan remained silent, but I noticed his scent warming slightly as studied the screen.
“How is the cub?” he finally asked, his voice carrying an unusual sofess.
“Overall, the pregnancy is progressing very well, Emma replied professionally. “The cub looks very healthy and strong. The Alpha bloodline is evident.”
to eat
Emma turned to me with instructions: “Just remember to eat plenty of red meat and protein, and avoid excessive shifting. Your body needs stability now.”
“Boy or girl?” Nathan asked abruptly.
A bitter taste filled my mouth. Of course–that was all that mattered to him. Not the miracle of life on the screen, but whether his heir would be male or female.
“It’s too early to tell, Alpha,” Emma answered. “The cub needs a few more weeks of development before we can determine that.”
I caught a fleeting look of relief in Nathan’s eyes that confused me.
“Rachel, remember to stay welf–hydrated,” Emma added. “Werewolf pregnancies require more fluid intake than human ones.”
