My gaze flickered between the oman in front of me and the man beside her. Several Ironjaw warriors stood in the doorway, looking at both me and the intruders, uncertain what to do.
“Your room?!” She burst into laughter, then stepped forward, looking at me as if I’d just told the biggest joke of her life. “I am the future Luna of this pack, and this is my suite!”
My eyes widened. What did she say–future Luna?!
She continued, “You really think he’d keep someone like you? What are you, a temporary plaything? You’re nothing, and when he tires of you, he’ll toss you aside like a rag. Eventually, hell formally accept me as his Luna, and you’ll realize how pathetic you truly
are.”
I was still in shock about this new “future Luna.” She was Nathan’s chosen mate…?
Bitterness spread throughout my body as I remembered Emma telling me Nathan needed a political marriage.
I fought back the tears that threatened to come, not wanting to give this woman the satisfaction of seeing how affected I was.
No, it wasn’t this woman affecting me, it was…
“What are you doing here!” A deep voice thundered from behind the woman, and even from a distance, I could feel his Alpha fury.
Nathan’s tall, imposing figure was beside me in an instant, teeth bared, his gray eyes flashing dangerously with gold.
Right behind him, Tyler, looking equally tense, followed closely, his presence adding to the menacing atmosphere.
He was nearly growling, his cold pine scent filling the entire room, causing both the woman and man to step back.
The young woman quickly regained her composure, however.
“I was admiring the castle and found this woman in the Luna Suite. Who is she and why is she here?” she demanded.
I looked up at Nathan from my position slightly behind him. His large frame shielded me from their view. I couldn’t believe how she spoke to an Alpha.
Yet Nathan gritted his teeth, restraining his wolf. I never would have thought the Alpha of Ironjaw would suppress his temper for
anyone…
“What’s going on? Oh, Madison, I’ve been looking for you!” Another Moice called out.
Looking toward the doorway, I saw an elegant middle–aged man walking in with Tyler. His eyes moved from the girl to me, lingering longer than I was comfortable with.
“Well, it seems your daughter has zero respect for my privacy. Does she not know whose castle this is?” Nathan said coldly
The man looked at the girl with a hint of controlled anger,
I apologize, Alphahan. My daughter seems to have forgotten her manners as a guest, and I can assure you, I will address this issue. Madison, leave now.”
“Yes, Father, I’ll be right there. Her eyes fixed on me once more before she turned away haughtily, leaving the room with grace but obvious displeasure.

Alpha Raymond, we hope this won’t happen again,” Tyler said politely but firmly, moving to stand beside me.
“Of course not. Young women are so headstrong and ambitious. I’ve done my best over the years to nurture her diplomatic skills, but sometimes she’s still too direct Raymond said smoothly.
“Might I ask who she is? She doesn’t appear to be an ordinary servant. His gaze swept over me with assessment.
“What she is doesn’t matter,” Nathan said expressionlessly, his body lightly blocking me.
I felt my breath catch. What am I to you, Nathan? I silently questioned.
I immediately, answered my own question–a breeder, of course, a tool to produce an heir. In reality, how was that any different from being a common plaything?
“She’s beautiful. I wish I had someone like her… it’s been a while since I’ve spent time with a woman so special… would you be willing to share? Raymond asked with a sly smile.
My eyes widened–what was this Alpha implying?!
I stood there horrified, my body frozen as my inner wolf wanted to run.
Nathan turned to look at me, his eyes narrowing dangerously.
I still couldn’t read any emotion on his face.
Everything around me seemed to go quiet, and I could hear my heart pounding, afraid of how Nathan would respond.
