Chapter 29
The whiskey on his breath told me he’d been drinking. Even so, I’d been longing for this moment. Yearning for him to come to me, to mark me feverishly as only he could.
“Alpha…” I whispered as he tugged at the silk nightgown I wore.
He tossed me onto the bed, and a yelp escaped my lips. He pulled me to the edge of the bed, lowering his mouth to my core.
My legs wrapped around his shoulders, my back arching with pleasure.
“Nathan. Call me Nathan!” he commanded, his eyes flashing a dangerous gold.
I didn’t understand what was wrong with him, but his wild movements let me know that tonight he wouldn’t let me go quietly, as he satisfied the hunger deep within him.
He brought me to peak after peak, and I felt my wolf beginning to awaken. Soft cries left me, filling the space within the half- closed, gorgeous bed canopy.
He slid deep inside me, pounding into me with a savage passion I’d never experienced. When I left scratch marks down his back, he knotted with me, his climax coming as he stopped deep inside me when I cried out “Nathan.”
Both of us panted, breathless, as he held me tightly.
“What are you doing to me?” he muttered, frowning, confusion in his voice.
My thoughts were still jumbled, and I didn’t understand his question
When the swelling from our coupling subsided, he didn’t immediately leave as usual. He crawled over her, lying down beside me.
His arm encircled my waist as I partly sat up against the headboard. He placed his head on my bare waist, closing his eyes.
He… fell asleep…?! I thought in amazement.
I looked down at him, finding it unbelievable. He was still holding me–drunk, certainly, but still here.
As the heat began to fade, I reorganized my thoughts.
What just happened…? I had been waiting for him to come to me, and after two days, he finally had.
I knew it must have been the alcohol and the full moon making him wild tonight, that he’d only come to satisfy his physical needs… but he had demanded I use his name.
Did that mean that perhaps, just maybe–he saw me as a woman, not just a breeder?
I watched him, unable to shake the thought of how handsome he was. With his eyes closed, he wasn’t the frightening Alpha anymore, just an attractive man.
A wave of complex emotions washed over me. He was my master, he had purchased me, but in some ways, he had also rescued me from the abuse of ather and stepmother.
His thick lashes cast shadows beneath his eyes, his chiseled jaw matching his perfect nose and lips, making him look like royalty.
Yet even in sleep, there was still a crease between his brows. Was something troubling him? The border attacks? The visiting guests?

Chapter 29
How I wished I could help hin in some way. I knew it was a foolish thought–what would a breeder like me have to offer him?
Nevertheless, I couldn’t resist gently massaging his temples, hoping ease whatever might be bothering him.
Well… his black hair was surprisingly soft.
Before long, I heard a deep grunt fill the small space between us. He slowly began to move, then looked around with a confused expression, his eyes suddenly turning back to cold gray.
Then his gaze slowly rose to meet mine.

He hesitated a moment, as if trying to remember what had happened Then he quickly pulled away from me with a scoffing expression, gathering his clothes and putting them on.
I pulled up the silk blanket to cover my naked body.
“Alpha… I’m sorry…” I apologized softly.
I wasn’t sure if my touching him while he slept was acceptable, if I had overstepped as a breeder.
He turned to look at me, annoyance on his face. Slowly, his gaze flickered up and down over me, then he turned and stormed out of the suite, slamming the door behind him.
I felt as if I could hear my heart shattering into pieces.
How stupid I was to think I might mean something different to him. was wrong, deceiving myself.
It was all my fantasy.
To him, I was still just a task–a breeder that needed to be completed. He would never love or care for me.
