They said the apple of the parents‘ eye among their kids often turned out to be ungrateful, and that was so true, like Tabitha.
While the one who got neglected usually grew up to be the most grateful. Rocky believed Geneva would be no different.
As long as they made the first move to mend fences, Geneva would certainly not abandon them. With her support, he would be able to stage a comeback in no time.
Seeing Rocky all excited, Salena hesitated, “But Geneva doesn’t accept us as her parents anymore.”
‘He won’t go himself, so he wants me to. Why should I?‘ she retorted inwardly.
Rocky shot back, “We are her parents, the ones who brought her into this world and raised her. It’s not like she can simply choose to disown us.”
Tabitha chimed in, “Right, Mom. We’re all family. Now we’re suffering, chased by loan sharks, while Geneva has money to donate to charity but won’t help us. It’ll tarnish her reputation. You’re doing this for her good by asking her for help.”
Rocky glared at Tabitha, cursing inwardly, ‘Even now, she still thinks she’s so smart?‘
“You go too, and take Barclay with you. You both must publicly apologize to your sister. If she doesn’t forgive you, don’t come back,” he said coldly.
Tabitha bit her lip. “Dad, I’ll apologize, but Geneva might not forgive us so quickly. Why not bring some media? We beg for her forgiveness. She lets go of past grudges, and we reunite as a family–it’ll be a heartwarming story.”
When she said that, she didn’t consider at all that it could have a negative impact on Geneva if Geneva didn’t forgive them
in the end.
With reporters around, it wouldn’t be about whether Geneva wanted to forgive or not–she’d have to.
‘I didn’t want to do this, but Geneva is just too heartless. Donating money instead of helping her suffering family. I just don’t want my parents to suffer anymore. Tabitha comforted herself.
After some discussion, Rocky agreed to go too.

At the research institute gate, they told the guard, “We need to see Geneva.”
The guard asked politely, “Did you notify Dr. Motley in advance?”
“We’re her parents! Do we need permission to see her? Call her out now! We have urgent matters,” Salena snapped. She had been turned away a few times before.
It was her own biological daughter, yet she faced so many obstacles when trying to see her.
So, Salena’s tone wasn’t great right now.
The guard glanced at the group with cameras not far away, stone–faced. “Sorry, Dr. Motley’s in the lab now. You didn’t notify her in advance, so you’re not allowed to disturb her.”
‘Geniuses‘ inspirations were precious. What if they barged in and messed up Geneva’s flow?‘ he thought.
Mr. and Salena were dead set on it this time—no sight of Geneva, no going back. So they kept haggling at the door.
Meanwhile, Geneva just stepped out of the lab, with Conrad trailing behind.

Chapter 30
A few young guys spotted her and ran over. They were all around Geneva’s age, but now her students.
自
“Doctor, there are a few people outside with reporters, claiming to be your parents.” The students looked worried, knowing the Motley family was up to no good.
If it was just about seeing their daughter, why bring reporters?
“Dr. Motley, maybe we should sneak you out the back door?” someone suggested.
Geneva chuckled. “I haven’t done anything wrong. Why sneak out like I’m some crook?”
With that, she headed for the main gate.
Some things should be put to a complete end.
As Geneva emerged, surrounded by people front and back, Rocky spotted her instantly.
Three years gone, his daughter was a total stranger–no trace of her old self left.
With a strikingly attractive face, she exuded an air of chilling indifference and an intimidating presence.
She walked over, peeling off her gloves and handing them to a student behind her.
Standing before Rocky, she asked emotionlessly, “Looking for me? What’s up?”
Rocky suddenly found himself tongue–tied, feeling utterly ashamed before his daughter.
“If there’s nothing, go back. I’m busy,” Geneva said.
“Busy?!” Salena suddenly piped up, raising her voice. “How busy can you be? Too busy to even see your own parents? Geneva! Guess you’ve grown too big for your britches–don’t even wanna accept your own parents!”
Rocky frowned, glaring at Salena while complaining inwardly, ‘Does she think Geneva’s still the old Geneva?”
“Geneva, your mom just misses you so much that she talks a bit hastily. Don’t take it to heart.” Rocky played the peacemaker. “We came today to take you home. After all, we’re family.”
“If that’s all you’re here for, you can leave now. I won’t be going with you, and I hope we can cut down on unnecessary ties and meetings in the future.” Ice cold, Geneva showed not a shred of that ‘touched by parental love‘ vibe.
“Geneva, I was busy with work all the time, and your mom took care of the two kids at home. We did neglect you a bit, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love you. You’re our child after all.” Rocky tried to sound loving.
Actually, he was throwing shade. ‘So, it’s all your mom’s fault. Your mom hurt you, but I didn’t. Getting mad at me is not right.’
Salena naturally turned around to take the blame and started crying. “Geneva, it’s all my fault. I went through a lot back then. When I was pregnant with you, I had a premature birth because of the stress from some slut outside.”
She went on and on about her hardships and ended up revealing that Rocky had cheated.
Although Rocky looked unhappy, he didn’t interrupt Salena.
Finally, Salena ended with a “Geneva, you have to understand me.”
Geneva sneered, “Did I cause your suffering?”
Salena instinctively replied, “No…”

“Then why are you telling me this?” Geneva shot back.

“The person who caused Salena pain was Rocky, not the original host. Why didn’t she dare to treat Rocky the same way she treated the original host?
‘She just picked on the softer one. Not daring to be tough with Rocky, so she took it out on her daughter.
‘Now she’s playing the sympathy card and family bond card again. Boring, Geneva said inwardly.
Salena felt extremely awkward as her well–prepared emotions were completely shot down by Geneva.
“Geneva! I’m your mom! How can you be so cold–hearted?” she cursed.
“Maybe it’s just in the family’s genes,” Geneva said coldly.
Seeing that Salena was about to argue with Geneva again, Rocky interjected, “Geneva, do you really have to hold a grudge against us? We’re your parents; without us, there would be no you.”
