Geneva shrugged. “Well, that’s tough. Since you two love each other so much, guess you’ll have to do time together. Seems like a real tear–jerker of a love story.”
While Tabitha was willing to go all in, Salena wasn’t having it.
Somehow, after some persuasion from Salena, Tabitha was tearfully staring at Stan once the court started, while claiming she was forced by Stan.
Stan was totally shocked, like he had been struck by lightning.
Kyla and Emerson were all like, “Yep, I knew this chick was bad news.”
Geneva didn’t see it coming either. Just earlier, Tabitha was swearing up and down she wouldn’t betray Stan. Guess she changed her tune real quick.
So their “tear–jerking” love story only seemed that way because the harm wasn’t on them.
Now that it bit them back, love turned out to be paper–thin.
The verdict was in: Stan got three years.
As they took him away, Tabitha cried out, “Stan, I did this for our kid. Don’t worry. Me and Barclay will wait for you…”
Stan’s eyes were full of mixed emotions. His lips moved, but no words came out.
His gaze
drifted past
Tabitha to Geneva as he cursed, “Geneva, you’re so vicious!”
Feeling kinda funny how the real villain was calling someone else vicious, Geneva sneered, “Mr. Wheeler, no need to flatter me like that. I might get a big head. This is just the beginning, though. You’ll see just how vicious I can be.”
As they left the courthouse, Tabitha gave Geneva a look full of righteous indignation.
“Geneva, I know I wronged you, but I’ve been trying to make it up. I’ve been holding back everywhere, so why won’t you let me be? Now, me and Stan are apart. Are you happy?”
Geneva was left utterly helpless, wondering, ‘Damn, is this chick for real? I didn’t force or threaten her into betraying Stan.
‘She threw him under the bus to save her own skin, but now she’s acting like a victim? Guess that helps her delude herself into thinking she’s still this loyal lover who didn’t betray him–she was just forced into it.‘
“Geneva, I’ve backed down this far, and you still won’t stop? Well, from now on, I won’t give an inch either.”
Tabitha looked up, her eyes firm, making it clear that if Geneva didn’t wise up, she wouldn’t go easy on her. “Besides, I won’t let you have your way.
“I’ll wait for Stan to get out, and we will finally reunite, living happily ever after! And you, no matter how hard you scheme, you’ll always be alone! You’ll never have happiness!”
Geneva just said, “Okay,” and walked away.
Being ignored, Tabitha felt like she landed a punch in the air.
Emerson and Kyla also came out.
Their only son got sentenced, but the main culprit, Tabitha, got off scot–free. Ou’s mom was so mad she could tear Tabitha apart.

Chapter 22
Having no doubt that such a woman could never raise their grandson well, the Wheelers forcefully took Barclay away.
With no Stan backing her up now, even Tabitha’s parents couldn’t do anything against the Wheelers. Tabitha had no choice but to go to Harrison.
Harrison watched Tabitha with tears streaming down her face, silent.
Tabitha only thought of him when she needed help, never caring if it was something he could handle.
But even though he saw through her, his years of feelings for her weren’t something he could just let go of easily.
After a while, he said, “Even the Motley family can’t do anything. What can I do?”
Tabitha’s expression stiffened as she looked at Harrison, wondering, ‘Is he refusing me?
‘No matter how difficult, whenever I asked, Harrison always got it done for me. I’m so pitiful now. How could he refuse me?‘
There was a type of person who, once you stopped giving in like you always did before, would start to resent you, feeling like you owed them.
Tabitha was that kind of person.
She felt Harrison loved her, had compromised on her so many times, so now it was only natural for him to solve her problems too.
As for not being able to reciprocate Harrison’s feelings, she also felt very guilty inside. ‘I was already feeling so bad. What more did he want from me?‘ she said inwardly.
“Harrison, you must have a way. Please help me, okay? Only you can help me.”
Harrison chuckled. “I can help you, but Tabitha, what will you do to repay me?”
Tabitha widened her eyes, shocked. “Harrison, don’t joke around…”
‘Didn’t he love me? Helping me should be natural; how could he ask for repayment?‘ she murmured inwardly.
“Now that Stan’s in jail, Tabitha, be with me. I’ll treat you well and get Barclay back, treat him like my own.”
“Harrison, you know I see you as a friend. It’s impossible between us.” Tabitha shook her head.
“Friend? Friends don’t go this far for each other. You don’t get to ask friends to do all this,” Harrison smirked, a bit sarcastically.
“Tabitha, you don’t wanna give anything but want everything. How can there be such a good deal? Either you’re with me, I help you get Barclay back, or figure it out yourself.”
The Harrison now felt unfamiliar to Tabitha.
She was heartbroken. “Harrison, you’ve changed. You’re not the person I knew.”
He once said he wouldn’t force her and would quietly protect her. Now, he was taking advantage, pressuring her to be with him.
‘How could he do this? How could he betray me like this?‘ Unable to accept this new Harrison, Tabitha ran away with tears.
She waited for Harrison to come for her, to apologize and promise to keep protecting her like a silent guardian.
But he never came.

The Wheeler family still wouldn’t let her see Barclay.

“That was my child! What right did the Wheeler family have to keep us apart?‘ she roared inwardly. In the end, she had to go to Harrison, agreeing to be with him but with a stubborn look that said he could have her body but not her heart.
She stared at Harrison coldly. “I agreed to your terms. Now tell me, how are you going to get my Barclay back?”
Harrison sneered inwardly. No matter how good he’d been to Tabitha or how much he’d given, now that he did one thing she didn’t like, all that kindness and effort were erased in her mind.
It seemed that being good to her was expected, but anything less was unforgivable.
He couldn’t figure out why he’d been so crazy for her for five years, willingly giving so much to her without regret.
His voice turned cold as he said, “Simple. Go tell the Wheeler family Barclay is my child.”
“How could you! Barclay is Stan’s!”
