Refusing to accept this reality, she caused a scene demanding to see Ethan. But Ethan had
security escort her out, while also reclaiming the repaired million–dollar bracelet from her
wrist.
That evening, Mr. and Mrs. Pierce brought Ethan to apologize at my door, begging for my forgiveness, only to be met with a torrent of abuse from my father.
“Now that you know my daughter is pregnant, you remember to come apologize? Where were you before?”
“He’s your son. Are you telling me that as parents, you can’t control your own child? You let some cheap appraiser walk all over my daughter’s head? You clearly don’t take our family
seriously!”
“If she had been his first love miraculously returned from the dead, I might understand. But you allowed a counterfeit to parade around in front of my daughter? Do you think we’re easy to bully?”
“If my daughter doesn’t divorce your good–for–nothing son today, tomorrow she’ll probably be serving your precious heir’s new fling. Our Reid family can’t afford such an honor from
your Pierce family. You might as well treat my daughter like she doesn’t exist.”
“The child in my daughter’s womb isn’t yours. My grandson doesn’t need your son rushing to play daddy.”
Mr. and Mrs. Pierce’s faces burned with shame as my father exposed their inner thoughts, but for the sake of their grandchild, they had no choice but to swallow their pride, hoping I would forgive Ethan and give the Pierce family another chance.
Unfortunately, I had given him my face when he didn’t want it, and now I wasn’t about to
give him another chance.
Ethan pursued me for months, and seeing my determination, he finally agreed to divorce, dutifully signing the agreement.

When my son Alex was just over a year old, he started walking and learned to call out “Grandpa,” “Grandma,” and “Daddy.”
I didn’t refuse the grandparents‘ requests to visit their grandson. After all, having more people care about Alex was never a bad thing.
Every time Alex’s childish voice called out “Grandpa” and “Grandma,” the elderly couple would curse their son vehemently.
Each time Alex called out “Daddy,” Ethan would break down on the spot, because I had told
Alex, “That’s not your daddy, don’t call him that.”
Ethan begged me countless times to remarry him, saying Alex couldn’t grow up without a father, but I rejected him every time.
In relationships, when you forgive someone once, you’re laying the foundation for
countless future hurts.
