Chapter 133
Carter’s POV
The melodic sound of a harp drifted through the castle corridor, pulling me from my endless thoughts about border patrols and war strategies.
I stood in the hallway, entranced by the haunting notes of an ancient werewolf lullaby–one I hadn’t heard since childhood.
This music… it fills my empty castle. How many years has it been since these walls felt such warmth?
I felt my wolf stir inside me, not with its usual restlessness but with an unfamiliar sense of peace. The beast that had been pacing anxiously for years seemed suddenly content, even docile.
Following the enchanting melody, I found myself drawn to the grand music hall. There Rachel sat, her copper hair loosely gathered at the nape of her heck with a few stray tendrils framing her face.
Rachel has brought more than just an heir. She’s brought something I never expected to feel again–fulfillment.
She wore a flowing white dress that seemed to glow in the moonlight streaming through the tall windows. Her delicate fingers danced across the harp strings with surprising skill, her green eyes slightly narrowed in concentration.
Hearing my footsteps, she turned. When her gaze met mine, her lips curved into a smile that made my heart stutter in my chest.
“Sing for me,” I commanded, my voice dropping to a deep, husky tone.
Her scent–spring rain and forest blossoms–intensified as I approached, making my Alpha instincts nearly impossible to control. My wolf howled with excitement, desperate to be closer to her.
She’s no longer just a breeder. She’s my mate, my Luna.
I settled into a leather armchair near the piano, kicking off my boots and allowing myself a rare moment of relaxation. Closing my eyes, I let Rachel’s music and scent envelop me.
Even on the eve of war, I’ve never felt such peace.
I wanted to stay awake, to savor this private performance, but found myself fighting against the lullaby’s spell.
The music stopped, and I sensed her familiar scent drawing nearer. Opening my eyes, I found Rachel ding before me, holding a deep blue throw blanket with our pack’s emblem woven into the fabric.
From my seated position, I could glimpse the delicate curve of her collarbone beneath her white dress’s neckline and the crescent moon pendant resting against her throat.
“I thought you’d fallen asleep,” she said, her voice as soft as moonlight but with a teasing lilt. Her lower lip caught briefly between her teeth.
“I never truly sleep, little wolf. I can feel your every approach,” responded, unable to keep the hunger from my voice.
“I didn’t mean to disturb you…” she whispered.

“I’m glad you did.” My voice grew deeper, more possessive,
I want to pull her into my arms, let her scent cover my skin completely.
For yonths, I’d respected her space, maintained my distance, but tonight, my control was reaching its limit. I noticed the tonging in her gaze, smelled the sweet change in her scent that spoke of desire.
My instincts surged, seizing control with a primal force that drowned out all reason. I wrapped my arm around Rachel’s slender waist, pulling her firmly against me.
To my surprise, she didn’t resist. Instead, her lips curved into a knowing smile as she straddled my thighs, her weight settling over me, her closeness sending a jolt through my core.
Our lips crashed together, and a powerful current roared through my body, my eyes widening at the raw intensity. Her taste–sweet, intoxicating–unraveled me.
My hands moved with urgent need, fingers tugging at the delicate straps of her dress. The fabric slipped down, revealing the soft curve of her breast, her nipple pebbling under the cool air and my heated gaze.
I traced its outline with my thumb, eliciting a soft gasp from her lips, her body arching into my touch.
“Oh, Carter, my Alpha…” Rachel moaned, her voice thick with yearning, laced with a submission.
My palms roamed her silken skin, savoring every inch as I slid my hand lower, brushing the sensitive curve of her inner thigh. Her breath hitched as my fingers found her pussy, warm and slick beneath the thin barrier of her panties.

I teased her gently at first, then with more insistence, feeling her tremble under my touch, her hips shifting to meet my rhythm. The scent of her arousal mingled with the wild musk of my own, driving my wolf to the edge of restraint.
“Goddess…” she gasped, her voice breaking as my lips found the sensitive gland on her neck, the mark of her mating bond pulsing under my tongue.,
I grazed it with my teeth, and her body shuddered, her fingers digging into my shoulders.
She was mine. From the moment she’d stepped into my territory, her scent had haunted me, my destined Luna. I’d waited too long for this.

Desperation clawed at me, and I fumbled with my belt, the metal clinking as I yanked the zipper down.
My pants parted, and my dick sprang free, hard and throbbing.
Rachel’s eyes flickered downward, a hungry gleam in them as she pressed closer, her breath warm against my jaw.
I was ready to claim her fully, to seal our bond in the fire of this moment. R…

My instincts snapped to alertness, and I turned toward the window. Nathan’s face loomed outside, his eyes glowing a dangerous, their intensity boring into me.
“Carter? What’s wrong?” Rachel’s voice trembled with confusion her hands still clutching me.
“Carter! Wake up!” Her voice grew distant and urgent.
Why is Nathan here? Does he know about Rachel’s identity?
Fury and protectiveness exploded within me.
No one will take her from me, not even the Alpha of Ironjaw Pack!
My eyes snapped open. I found myself lying in my bed, drenched in sweat. The voice callin
me wasn’t Rachel’s but Lucas‘.
“Alpha! Alpha! You need to wake up!” Lucas insisted, standing cautiously by my bedside.
“Damn it, Lucas, this better be important!” I growled.
“You instructed me to wake you at sunrise, sir. The border patrol will report in an hour.”
I replied, “I know. Now, leave my room.”
As the door closed behind him, I ran a hand over my face.
Damn it, just a fucking dream.
How could I have such thoughts about a breeder? It’s just instinct, a reaction to her Alpha bloodline, not real feelings.
Standing at the window, I gazed toward Rachel’s cottage in the distance, contemplating my dream and Nathan’s

appearance in It.
She is beautiful, especially carrying my child… no, his child.
I kept reminding myself that this was merely a normal Alpha response to a breeder, not a mate bond.
Why did Nathan appear in my dream? Is my subconscious warning me of something?
Uneasily, I recalled that faint, unfamiliar Alpha scent I’d detected near Rachel’s cottage several nights ago.
Later that morning, dressed in my formal attire, I sat at the head of the long table in the castle’s meeting room, handling territory matters and war preparations. My mind kept drifting back to my dream.
“What’s the latest on Ironjaw Pack? What is Nathan doing?” I asked suddenly, drawing my lieutenants‘ attention.
Lucas handed me a folder. “Information is limited, Alpha. The latest news is that Madison received Nathan’s moon pendant. We believe this indicates their alliance marriage is proceeding.”
“That pendant…” I murmured, lost in thought. “Anything else?”
“Nothing, Alpha. He seems focused on preparing his alliance with Raymond.”
How’s the island’s security?” I changed the subject abruptly.
Lucas frowned. “Is there a problem, Alpha?”
“Are you certain our territory hasn’t been breached? No unfamiliar Alpha scents?”
“No unusual reports, Alpha. Our patrols are thorough. Why do you ask?”
“Just confirming.” I tapped my fingers on the table. “Increase patrols around Rachel’s cottage.”
Why would I dream of Nathan? He couldn’t possibly know Rachel is here.
