Chapter 127
Nathan’s POV
I stood in the moonlight, the pendant dangling from my fingers as I waited for Rachel’s response. The clouds parted, lighting her copper hair. My heart stirred–she looked beautiful
I longed to hold her!
The ocean breeze carried her sweet spring rain scent, mingling with the salt air. I inhaled deeply, savoring it after months of believing I’d never smell it again.
She hadn’t answered me yet about the pendant, and I could still see the anger in her expression from moments ago.
She had every right to be furious with me. As an Alpha, I rarely apologized for my decisions, but with Rachel, everything was different.
If our positions were reversed, I would have been even more enraged, likely forcing submission through an Alpha command.
The fact that she’d only expressed her anger verbally rather than trying to flee or fight back told me that somewhere deep inside, she still harbored feelings for me.
But her eyes and scent betrayed her–she wasn’t ready to accept my apology or forgive me.
I couldn’t lie to myself about that.
As I sensed her potential rejection looming, an unfamiliar panic gripped my heart. My hand trembled slightly as I withdrew the pendant.
“Rachel, you don’t have to decide now,” I said softly. “I know it’s too soon. I’m sorry for pressuring you for an immediate answer. That’s not fair to you. I’ll give you the time you need and deserve to decide… but I hope to keep seeing you.”
Before she could respond, I added. “Please.”
“Who are you?” Rachel finally spoke, her voice filled with suspicion. “The Nathan Blackwood I know would never apologize twice in one night. He never asks, only commands.”
I looked down at the ground, my Alpha pride making it difficult to respond to such direct questioning.
“You’re right,” I admitted. “I’ve never apologized to anyone the way I have to you, not even to King Ja I’ve changed too, Rachel. Perhaps not with everyone, but I have with you. Those days believing I’d lost you and our child taught me what
truly matters.”
Her expression remained doubtful, neither completely dismissive nor accepting. I fought the urge to step forward and touch her, knowing she wouldn’t welcome it, not wanting to trigger her fear.
I said, my voice cracking a little, “I know you need time to forgive me, Rachel. Hearing what you said, knowing what I planned to do… knowing you fled in fear of me..I can barely forgive myself. I wouldn’t expect you to simply set it aside and pretend it never happened.”
“I can’t,” she whispered, tears forming in her eyes. “What you were going to do was too-” She stopped, pregnancy

hormones amplifying her eifiotional turmoll.
Heartless,” I supplied. “Agalist the most fundamental laws of the mate bond.”
Cruel, she agreed, her head nodding in painful acknowledgment.
‘I’m sorry,” was all I could say.
Rachel looked away, uncertainty in her voice. “And now… you want me to abandon everything I have here and return to Ironjaw territory? Back to that life? As a breeder with no status
I shook my head. “No, it wouldn’t be the I’m not the same man I was.”
same. I
promise you that. You would be my Luna, with status equal to mine.
“Why should I believe you?” she challenged. “Alpha promises are easy to make but another thing to keep.”
I sighed, knowing this wouldn’t be easy, but grateful she was at least giving me a chance to explain.
“You shouldn’t,” I said, keeping my voice gentle.
Rachel’s eyes widened in surprise.
Don’t believe my words,” I continued. “Let me prove it through actions. Let me show you we’re true mates.”
Rachel didn’t respond, just watching me quietly.
“Take all the time you need,” I added. “I’ll wait, however long it takes.”
“How do you plan to prove it to me?” she asked.
I already had my answer: “With your help.”
“My help?” she questioned, even more skeptical.
“Yes. I want to learn more about you, so I can give you what you want. I become the kind of Alpha you need.”
to hear about your new life. I want to
