I could only live once, and I wanted more–more freedom, more dignity, more life–before the end.
As I approached the Moon Goddess Suite, quick footsteps sounded behind me. I turned to see Mia, one of Nathan’s warriors. hurrying to catch up.

A sharp intake of breath behind me made me freeze. The corridor temperature seemed to plummet as a powerful wave of cold pine scent crashed over me. I turned slowly, my heart hammering against my ribs.
Nathan stood in the doorway of my suite, eyes blazing gold, teeth elongating slightly as he stared at me. “Say that again?!” he growled.
My wolf cowered inside me, but I kept my chin up, even as I instinctively lowered my gaze and offered a small curtsy.
Tyler stepped forward, his amber scent revealing his anxiety. “Mia, you can go.” He turned to Nathan. “Alpha, I have some border defense documents for your review.”
“Leave us,” Nathan gommanded, his voice low and dangerous.
“Yes, Alpha.” Tyler hesitated. “Your next meeting with Raymond is in fifteen minutes.”
NOW!!” Nathan roared, his eyes fully golden.
