Chapter 4
“Who was that mah on the phone?”
James’s jaw was tight, barely containing his volcanic rage.
After today’s rollercoaster of surprises, I’d had enough.
I yanked my hand free and walked away quickly.
Harper grabbed James as he tried to follow me.
“See how guilty she looks? Why else would she run away? James, let’s ignore that slut!”
Their voices faded behind me. I couldn’t care less about them.
As I reached the stairway, my daughter ran into my arms.
“Mommy, who were you talking to? Daddy’s looking for you!”
I gently tapped her nose. “Mommy has a mission for you. I need to touch up my makeup in the dressing room. Can you tell Daddy to find me there?”
“Yes!” she answered brightly before running off.
I continued toward the second floor when suddenly-
A group of security guards rushed into the stairwell. Harper
behind them, pointing at me:
“That’s her! She snuck onto the yacht with a fake pass.”
The guards approached me. “Ma’am, please show your entry badge.”
As the yacht’s owner, I didn’t need an entry badge at all.
I sighed. “Who’s your supervisor? Get him here.”
Harper let out a mocking laugh.
“Claire, stop the act. You’re caught, just give up and get off this yacht!”
Since we’d met again, she’d provoked me repeatedly in just a few hours, and I’d ignored her each time.
Now, I saw no reason to spare her dignity any longer.
I opened my phone to make a call, but Harper lunged forward and snatched it away.
She looked at me triumphantly. “Trying to call James for help? Dream on! You shameless where, always throwing yourself at
men!”
She turned to security: “Hurry up and get her off the boat. She’s nothing but trouble!”

The guards, not wanting to offend a guest, moved closer.
“Ma’am, you can’t stay here without proper authorization. Please leave the yacht immediately.”
They twisted my arms behind my back like I was a criminal.
Sharp pain shot through me. Sweat beaded on my forehead, my teeth chattering.
“Let go! I own this yacht!”
The guards hesitated, instinctively loosening their grip.
Harper burst out laughing. “Oh come on, guys. She’s playing you! The owner and his wife would never be on this level–they’re always on the upper deck!”
She looked me up and down with contempt. “Besides, look at her. Would someone wealthy want her?”
Harper’s shrill, excited voice attracted a circle of onlookers.
The guards, worried about causing a scene, tightened their grip and began dragging me away.
I managed to free one arm and clawed at the wall. “Just let me make one call! I really am-”
But the guard cut me off impatiently.
“Crazy woman, stop talking nonsense. Get off now!”
He yanked my arm violently, shoving me to the ground.
My carefully styled hair came undone, and my ankle made a sharp cracking sound as I fell.
Excruciating pain shot through my body. My face turned ghostly white as I cried out.
Just then, my phone rang. Harper glanced at it, then tossed it into the sea.
I stared in shock. That was Hudson’s gift, containing important files I hadn’t backed up!
Seeing my glare, Harper’s anger flared.
She raised her hand to slap my face.
But in the next moment, someone grabbed her wrist firmly.
