I ask Khal to show Nikolay an image of me and a moment later I see what Khal is showing Nikolay, but my other Mates see it as well. “They have to be around here.” I hear Noah grumble and I quickly put my clothes on, I need to talk to Grandpa because I want to know what I can expect for the future.
Nikolay tries to grab hold of me, but I manage to avoid his hands and make a beeline for the stairs. My Mates are calling out my name as they follow me up the stairs, but I keep walking through our bedroom to find Grandpa and I hope he had a good rest. I bump into Uncle Josh as I walk out the door and I ask him if Grandpa is still resting, “I came to get the five of you, because it is almost time for dinner.” He answers and I keep walking towards the living room.
“Grandpa, what kind of abilities can I get?” I ask the moment I see him sitting on the couch with Grandma and Grandfather, he asks me what happened and I explain it the best I can. “There are a lot of abilities you might get, but the ones you get are connected in a way.” He answers and I try to find a link between my camouflage gift and my projection gift, but it takes me a few minutes to understand why these two abilities might be connected.

My mind keeps going over my gifts when Topaz points something out to me and I look at my Mates as I try to make sense out of this, puzzle pieces are starting to fall into place. Nero was able to hear the conversation between Marc and Alpha Randell, Nathan being able to tell that Crystal was telling the truth. Is it possible they got those gifts from me and did Nikolay get the gift of projection from me?
I think I have more questions than I have answers, “Grandpa, is it possible my Mates got a gift from me after we marked one another?” I ask him. He is deep in thought when Brock gets up to walk out of the living room and it takes a few minutes before Brock returns and Grandpa to come out of his thoughts. I get handed a journal by Brock and Grandpa tells me which page I have to turn to.
It is a journal from a few centuries ago and it is written by a male, named Joey. “He was one of the few that never turned on their Mate.” Grandpa explains as I start reading, it is a recount of an incident that took place three days after they had marked one another. His best friend offered to become his Mate’s personal guard, but he felt that his friend wasn’t telling the truth and he asked his friend to repeat the offer to his Mate.
Joey had informed his Mate to tell him what she felt from his best friend and he hadn’t been surprised to find out that he had been right, his friend had been dishonest. Neither one of them could understand what he was up to, so they decided to keep him close and her Brother kept a close eye on him. It took nearly four years before they found out what Joey’s friend had been up to, but he didn’t succeed in his efforts.
Joey’s friend wanted my ancestor for himself and the Alpha title with it and he had hoped that by being by her side constantly he would be able to seduce her, but he hadn’t counted on her being Joey’s fated Mate. Like most Wolves and Lycans he had thought they were chosen Mates and that was his biggest mistake, they killed him with the approval of the Elders. Ending another threat to Blood Stone Pack.
