Alayah’s p.o.v.
I have seen pictures of Dad and after meeting Grandfather I wondered where his features came from, but looking at the male that is hugging Mom I have found the answer. “You have four Mates?” I hear Brock ask and I just nod my head as I keep looking at Mom, Noah introduces himmelf and his Brothers to the rest of my family. After that he introduces the rest of our family and I see Bryson looking from Mom to Dad, “Yes, Bryson. My Mom is mated to their Father.” I say before he can ask the question.
Uncle Josh tells us to take a seat and as they have done ever since I gave them a change we sit down on a couch, Nathan has me on my lap while Nero and Noah are sitting on either side of me and Nikolay sits down on the floor in front of me and Nathan. “Sorry to keep you all waiting” I hear Bastian say as he walks into the living room. “We found the female and right now she is at the infirmary, Dad, we have to call the Elders.” He says before he starts introducing himself properly.
“Alayah, I will tell you why I never accepted the position as Alpha fully. I think I need to explain our bloodline to you first.” He says but Alayah interrupts him by telling him that she knows about her bloodline and he asks her to fill him in on what she knows. “Well, there is a little bit more to it.” He says after Alayah has told him everything we heard from Grandfather. “Only the first born to an Alpha can have a female with gifts and none of those females have ever been a first born.
Our family goes back centuries and every first born took over the title, building a very strong Pack. We don’t prohibit anyone from rejecting their Mate, but they need permission from our Alpha and that means they need a damn good reason for the rejection. With every Pack–member mated to their true Mate we grew into the strongest Pack there ever was, even after we lost the ability to find our Mate on a Full Moon we stayed the strongest Pack.
Till this day we don’t allow anyone to think lightly about the Mate–bond and if anyone thinks they shouldn’t allow the connection to build into a true Mate–bond they still have to come to the Alpha. It has kept us from becoming weaker as it did to some other Packs in the past and our Pack–members understand the importance of finding that true Mate–bond, even though there are still females that think they deserve to make that decision themselves.
My Brother was the first born and as it happened with every generation before him he took over from our Father, not that I wasn’t trained for the title. His Son was to take over from him a few years after he found his Mate, but as you already know that never happened. Your Great Grandfather had left almost four weeks before his Brother returned with his Mate and when they got killed we all assumed he would return quickly.
I don’t know the reason for not returning, but I think it might have something to do with our bloodline. My Nephew was glad he was the second born, because it meant he would never have to watch his Daughter or Granddaughter to become a victim to her Mate and with the death of his Brother he knew that that had been passed on to his offspring as well. He would never have a Daughter because he was the second born, but his Son or Grandson could have a Daughter in the future.
Our Pack is at its strongest with its rightful Alpha, I knew I could only become the rightful Alpha if my Nephew died and when we did my Alpha Ceremony in the presence of three Elders we knew that he was still alive. My powers as acting Alpha never changed and that only meant that our rightful Alpha was still out there, before I stepped down I had a long and hard conversation with Josh. I needed and wanted him to understand that as long as our rightful Alpha was still alive he would never be more than the acting Alpha.
His powers never changed either over the years and we all know why that is. If my Nephew had died without offspring I would have lead this Pack to the best of my abilities and the bloodline would have passed to Josh and his Sons, but I am glad I never had to take over completely.” Grandpa says and I know I will need some time to let this sink in, I understand the males in my family for not wanting the responsibility of raising a female with abilities.

I lean a little closer to Nathan as I pull back into my mind, allowing myself to sit with Topaz and discuss everything we have learned so far. Normally I would do this in the confinements of my bedroom all by myself, but I know my Mates would never let me do this by myself again and I like it when one of my mates holds me close. We both understand why they never were able to take over the title of Alpha and we understand why our Great Grandfather felt he needed to hide, but I wish he had told his Mate a little bit more about our bloodline.
I doubt it would have changed Grandfather’s mind or Uncle Paul’s mind, but it might have prepared all of us a bit better for the information we got today. I still don’t understand the markings on the trees or why this Pack needs so many cottages, let alone the huge Pack–house I am in right now. Topaz asks me if I already know what I want to do and I have to tell her I haven’t got a clue just yet, I feel as if I am still missing a lot of information to make a good solid decision.
I am still surprised that my Great Grandfather’s Uncle is still alive and I hope I can get to know him a bit better before he does leave us, he has seen so many things over the years I would like to hear about. I would like to know everything I can about my family and what else I can possibly expect when it comes to my abilities, I hope I don’t get to many more of them thou. I think this is just about as much as I can handle, but then again the Goddess usually deals us what we can handle and it might be more than I have right now.
“Why did Bastian say they needed to call the Elders when he said they had found the female?” Topaz asks me as I just sit there pondering.
