“Why don’t we show you to the Alpha Quarters? That is where you will be staying and on our way there Josh can explain why his side of the family never took the Alpha title.” Aunt Mable says and we follow her up the stairs, Bryson guides Mara and Dad up the other stairs and on the landing we meet up. Alayah turns around to look over the banister and I smile when I see a huge smile appear on her face, “This looks really amazing, I love how far out the door I can look from here.” She says.
Uncle Josh waits until Alayah has met up with him and as he starts walking he gets a sad expression on his face, “My Father was never meant to become an Alpha and he never had the ambition to become one, but when tragedy struck he had no other choice. His Brother was a born Alpha and like his Father before him he was a damn good Alpha, I don’t remember much about him. When my Uncle met his Mate and they had two Pups Dad was relieved, because it meant he would never have to take over.
I think Dad was more relieved that neither of the Pups was a female and for many years our Pack lived a good and wealthy life, but there were Packs around that didn’t like the bloodline that flowed within our Pack. Some Alphas tried to convince my Uncle to take their Daughter as a Mate for his heir, but my Uncle wouldn’t hear of it and he had a very good reason for it. Over the centuries Packs have gone extinct because Alphas took chosen Mates instead of waiting for their Lycan or Wolf to feel a connection to a female.
I remember the day Dad came to me and told me that our future Alpha had found his Mate, but I could tell that something was off. I was too young to understand it but looking back it was clear, Dad told me to go with my Nanny and to listen to her. I was in the kitchen when all hell broke loose and I was brought to one of the saferooms the Pack–house has. It took a few years before Dad told me what happened that day and I still feel murderous when I think about it.
A neighboring Pack came over to celebrate the happy occasion, even though it had been one of the Alphas that had difficulty accepting that our future Alpha refused to take a chosen Mate and just as they were saying goodbye the Alpha stabbed our future Luna with a silver knife. On its own it wouldn’t have killed her, but the knife was also laced with Addejora and if it hadn’t been for my Uncle she would have died rather quickly. My Uncle helped his Son and his Daughter in law, but the Alpha’s Son stabbed him with a knife as well.
The Alpha used the silver knife to stab my Cousin, but that family never made it out of our territory alive and I mean none of them. I don’t know if all of them knew what the Alpha and his Son had planned, but seeing their Alpha and future Alpha injured on the ground made our Warriors lose all common sense and they killed every family member.” Uncle Josh tells us as he guides us to the Alpha Quarters, which are located in the middle of the Pack–house.
“Father built this Pack–house to prevent anyone coming near our Alpha again, because no one enters our territory without being searched and anyone that objects gets send home. Father felt he had to make sure that our rightful Alpha would be protected at all times, he felt he had failed his family on the day our Alpha died and I don’t think he has ever forgiven himself.” Uncle Josh says as we enter the Alpha Quarters, Alayah snuggled into my side.
I could feel her emotions going on a rollercoaster ride and I understand it isn’t easy to hear what happened to your family, no matter how far in the past it happened. A short hallway leads to a similar foyer as downstairs and two stairs go up on either side of the foyer, we all walk up the stairs to meet up on the landing. To the right we see an Omega standing in the doorway of a huge kitchen and to the left we can look into the living room.
“Uncle Josh, why didn’t your Father take the Alpha position when my Great Grandfather didn’t return?” Alayah asks and I know each of us would like to know the answer to this question, “I think I will let him answer that himself and for a while I thought he would never live to see the day that our Alpha would

return, but when Bastian came home with a picture of you he started to get back to his old self. Today he got out of bed for the first time in months and he has been in the living room ever since.” Uncle Josh says.
We step into the living room and I hear Mara gasp when we look at the male in the living room, “If you think he looks a lot like Maxwell, you should see a picture of my Uncle.” Uncle Josh says and the male slowly stands up, “Josh, who is this?” he asks and Uncle Josh quickly explains who Mara is to him, “Oh my Dear, I am so sorry.” He says as he hugs Mara and then his eyes lock with Alaya eyes, his eyes filling with tears as he keeps staring at her.
“She looks so much like Mom and you even named her after my Mother, thank you for making an old man happy” He says as he keeps his arms around Mara, Dad doesn’t even growl at him and I think I understand why. He is no threat to any of us and Mara gave him the one thing he had hoped for, an heir to take the position as this Pack’s rightful Alpha.
