“Ah, you don’t understand,” the man replied. “Miss Parker already terminated her pregnancy. Mr. Parker announced that his daughter has moved on from her dead husband and wants to remarry. Everyone has a chance now.”
“Terminated the pregnancy?” Azazel and his parents exclaimed in unison, their faces darkening.
Azazel let out a cold laugh. “That’s impossible. She valued her husband and child more than her own life. She would never move on and terminate the pregnancy. As for all of you…”
He looked at the crowd with contempt. “Not to mention she was assaulted by kidnappers before–damaged goods. Now she was carrying another man’s child and still pining for him. Yet you’re all fighting to marry her? Are you addicted to being cuckolded?”
As soon as he said this, everyone in line turned hostile.
“How dare you speak about her like that?” one man shouted angrily. “Miss Parker was a victim! How does that make her ‘damaged goods‘? I heard she was a devoted wife and daughter–in–law in the Winters family–a truly good woman. How dare you slander her!”
“Yeah, brothers, let’s teach him a lesson!” another shouted.
Azazel ended up being beaten by the crowd. Eventually, he and his parents had no choice but to reluctantly join the line.
They didn’t dare leave, fearing they’d have to start over at the back of the queue if they
returned.
I heard they finally reached the front after three days–three sleepless days and nights before they finally entered our home.
As soon as Christine saw me, she began complaining with reddened eyes: “Sylvia, those men out there are like bandits! Look how they beat up Alaric! And your father… you’re still carrying our family’s child. Even if he’s concerned about you, he shouldn’t ignore your wishes and arrange for men to marry into the family. It’s absurd!”

Azazel stood to the side with a cold expression. “We’ve come to take you back,” he announced curtly. “You’re Azazel’s wife–it’s not right for you to stay at your parents‘ indefinitely. I’ve agreed to marry into both families and care for you and the child. I’ll treat the baby as my own and you as my wife. But remember, Rebecca will always be the primary wife.”
I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. Primary and secondary wives? What era did he think we
were living in?
Christine looked me up and down, smiling. “The doctors here are truly skilled. Just a month,
and you already look so much healthier. When we leave, we should bring those doctors with us to care for you. But I must say, those men outside are outrageous–claiming you terminated your pregnancy. That’s like cursing you! Absolutely terrible.”
I finally broke my silence. “Actually, they’re right. I did terminate the pregnancy. I’ve moved on from Azazel and am ready to start a new life.”
