“You brat! What’s gotten into you tonight?” Mr. Winston scolded.
“They’ve explained everything clearly. If you keep this up, I’ll have you thrown out!”
But Lincoln, his eyes red with frustration, ignored his father and charged toward me, demanding answers.
“This is all a misunderstanding, right? How could you possibly get engaged to my uncle?”
“Laura, why are you breaking up with me? You said yes to my proposal!”
As he grabbed me again, I struggled free and shot back,
“Why? Lincoln, do you seriously have the audacity to ask why?”
I let out a cold laugh, fixing him with a sharp gaze.
“Do you really not know the reason? Or are you just pretending?”
“I saw everything–what you and your precious secretary did at the hospital and in the rehab room!”
Hearing my unexpected words, Lincoln’s face instantly lost all color, and panic set in.
“No, Laura, it’s not what you think! Please, let me explain–I can explain everything!”
I let out a soft scoff and gave a subtle signal to one of the staff members standing beside Jasper.
Suddenly, the screen in the banquet hall switched to a video from the rehabilitation room’s surveillance cameras.
It played footage of Lincoln and Rosemary during their post–training “passionate moments,” recorded in explicit
detail.
The crowd erupted in shock, and disdainful glares fell upon the two.
“Oh my God! I was just feeling sorry for Lincoln Winston, thinking he’d been wronged!”
“Turns out he was sneaking around and having an affair during his rehab! What a faker!”
“Even with disabled legs, he’s still playing around and cheating. You’d never guess he was capable of this!”
The banquet hall filled with whispers and condemning remarks from every corner.
Lincoln, however, seemed deaf to the accusations. He struggled desperately against the bodyguards restraining him.
“No, it’s not like that! I… I was momentarily tempted–it was her! She seduced me!”
“Laura, think about everything we’ve been through! I saved you during the accident and all the years we’ve spent together!”

“I never wanted to break up with you. Please, just trust me one more time!”
Each word Lincoln said sounded deeply emotional, but to me, it was nothing but pathetic.
Even now, he was trying to shift the blame and make excuses for himself.
“I will never believe you again,” I said coldly. “And saving me doesn’t give you a free pass for the rest of your life.”
“What’s more…”
I sighed deeply before deciding to voice the truth that had been buried for so long.
“You weren’t paralyzed because you saved me during the accident, were you?”
In the past, I had willingly believed this story because I loved him.
That car accident had left Lincoln far more injured than I was.
There was never any truth to the claim that he had been paralyzed trying to save me.
But I had always known it was Lincoln himself who spread that story.
Out of love for him, I never questioned it or publicly clarified the truth.
I convinced myself he had fabricated the story because he feared I would leave him for being disabled.
What I didn’t realize was that every moment he appeared to love me, he was also loving someone else.
Hearing my words, Jasper’s grip on my hand tightened protectively, his concern for me evident.
Meanwhile, Lincoln’s false facade finally crumbled.
He slumped to the ground, his face drained of all color. “Laura…”
“You… you knew all this time, but you never said anything?”
As if clinging to one last shred of hope, Lincoln looked up at me, pleading.
“Laura, you still love me, don’t you? I just made a mistake–it was only once.”
“Rosemary means nothing to me; she’s just a tool, someone disposable!”
“My heart has always been with you, Laura. I’ve only ever loved you!”
As soon as those words left Lincoln’s mouth, some guests looked ready to throw punches at him.
Mr. Winston, hearing the murmurs around the room, gave a subtle signal to the bodyguards to drag his disgraceful
son away.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Winston, watching her son’s pitiful pleas, couldn’t contain her emotions. She suddenly rushed forward, aiming to hit me.

Before she could get close, Jasper stepped in and blocked her path, his icy gaze stopping her in her tracks
Glaring at me with undisguised fury, Mrs. Winston spat, all traces of grace gone,

“Who else would want you but my son? And now you dare slander him!
I met her gaze steadily and spoke calmly.
“How am I the one without shame? Your son got his mistress pregnant and planned to make me adopt their childr

Mr. Winston, seeing the scene escalate, was filled with rage. Unable to hold back, he slapped Mrs. Winston across the
face.
“This is how you’ve raised our son? Get out of here immediately!”
Even Lincoln had to restrain his mother, who was still acting hysterical. Panicked, he turned to me, desperate to explain.
