With that, Jasper led me away, leaving Lincoln staring in disbelief.
It took him a moment to process what had just happened.
As he tried to chase after us to demand what Jasper meant by “aunt,” his phone rang. It was his father, urging him to return, and he had no choice but to let it go.
In the car, Jasper handed me a new gown with thoughtful care.
When I opened it, I immediately recognized it. As someone who works in fashion design, I could tell at a glance that this was his own creation.
Surprised, I turned to look at Jasper. “This is…?”
For once, Jasper seemed a little flustered, a faint blush creeping up his ears.
“I designed it for you as a wedding gown. I was planning to give it to you after the engagement.”
“But for now, you can wear this one. I’ll design another for the wedding itself.”
I knew that Jasper owned his own fashion brand, and his designs were among the best in the international fashion
world.
The thoughtfulness behind his actions touched me deeply. It was clear he took our engagement very seriously.
I nodded and went to my room to change into the gown before heading to the engagement banquet.
The banquet hall reflected Jasper’s understated style. His father had only invited close family friends and associates from prominent families.
When Jasper appeared, he was on stage, and his father was introducing him to the guests.
“Today is a joyous occasion for our Winston family. My younger brother has finally decided to settle down!”
Just as Jasper’s father finished and was about to invite the star of the engagement to come out, an arm shot out from the side and snatched the microphone away.
“Hello, everyone! Thank you all for coming to my uncle’s engagement banquet!”
“On this celebratory day, I’d also like to announce some big news of my own. I’m getting engaged too! My fiancée is
none other than-”
“Lincoln! Get off the stage right now!”
Before Lincoln could finish his announcement, his father interrupted him, fuming with anger.
Lincoln’s father glared at him, his frustration evident. “What do you think you’re doing, causing trouble at your

uncle’s engagement banquet?”
“And what do you mean you’re getting engaged? Why don’t I know anything about this?”
Lincoln, unfazed, shrugged off his father’s anger.
“I just thought it would be perfect timing! Double the joy, right? I proposed to Laura, and she said yes!”
Before he could continue, I stepped out of the hotel suite, wearing the gown Jasper had designed.
Jasper immediately walked over, took my hand, and interlocked our fingers tightly.
Together, he led me to stand in front of Lincoln’s father.
“Brother, let me introduce you. This is my fiancée, Miss Laura Hope.”
Since Jasper had spent his adult life living abroad and rarely returned home, the entire arrangement for this engagement had been managed by my mother alone, communicating exclusively with him.
Mr. Winston only knew that his younger brother was getting married through an arranged match but had no idea who the bride was.
He was, however, aware of my past relationship with Lincoln.
At this moment, Mr. Winston began to piece things together.
Having experienced many situations in his life, he quickly composed himself in the face of this brewing storm.
Frowning slightly, he took a moment to glance at everyone in the room before calmly turning to me.
“Laura, you tell me–who are you getting engaged to today?”
The guests at the banquet, many of whom recognized me and Lincoln, began whispering among themselves.
“Isn’t Miss Hope and Lincoln Winston a famously loving couple?”
“Didn’t Lincoln Winston save her in that car accident two years ago, which left him paralyzed? And she stayed by
his side ever since…”
“So why is this now turning into a battle between uncle and nephew over a fiancée? Who’s the real one?”
“Well, I think Laura is better suited for the second Winston brother. After all, there’s already another woman by
Lincoln’s side…”
Lost in thought, I was suddenly yanked forcefully by Lincoln.
“Laura, stop being angry, okay? Everyone knows how much we love each other!”
“I may have ignored you earlier today, but you can’t joke around with me like this!”
“Apologize to my uncle and father right now, and I’ll make it up to you with a proper engagement banquet later.”

Hearing his words, my expression turned cold. I shook off his hand and walked toward Jasper, taking his arm firmly as I looked at him with determination.
“Mr. Winston,” I said firmly, “Lincoln and I have broken up. My engagement to Jasper is real.”
As soon as the words left my mouth, Mr. Winston immediately understood the situation.
With a relieved smile, he nodded and raised his glass to ease the tension. “Good.”
“My younger brother is finally settling down, and I couldn’t be happier for you two!”
“As for the arrangements for the wedding and marriage license, let me know if you need any help…”
“This is impossible! Absolutely impossible! I don’t agree to breaking up!”
Lincoln’s sudden outburst startled his father, who nearly dropped his glass.
