Chapter 10
Meanwhile, in Riverside.
In the Cooper Group office.
An assistant placed an invitation on Finn’s desk:
“Mr. Cooper, we’re still investigating Serena. This is a wedding invitation just delivered from the Carter family.”
The Carters?
Finn frowned. The Carters rarely sent them invitations.
He picked it up and opened it.
Groom: Ethan Carter
Bride: Harper Mitchell
Finn stared at the bride’s name, his heart racing…
At that moment, Harper opened her phone.
Ethan had indeed sent the villa’s address and door code.
The man was more thoughtful than she’d expected.
Even letting her stay with her parents first showed consideration.
Harper looked at the handsome man before her.
For the first time, she felt this impulsive marriage might be a good choice after all.
The families had lunch together in a wonderfully harmonious atmosphere, only parting ways in the afternoon.
That evening, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell prepared a table full of dishes.
After a long separation, the family of three reunited.
Mr. Mitchell was particularly happy tonight, drinking quite a bit and becoming talkative:
“Speaking of our connection with the Carters, it’s quite fateful. We weren’t close initially, but they’ve helped us considerably in recent years. If not for the Carter family’s assistance, our Mitchell family would have collapsed long ago.”
Harper was surprised.
The Carters had been helping them all this time?

Chapter 10
Three days passed quickly, On the fourth afternoon, Ethan came to pick up Harper.
Harper reluctantly said goodbye to her parents.
Mrs. Mitchell looked at Ethan in the distance and squeezed Harper’s hand, whispering:
“I can tell that boy really likes you. Give it a chance and see how it goes.”
Harper lowered her eyes, watching Ethan standing by the car, slightly frowning.
She somehow felt he didn’t particularly like her….
The drive was completely silent, neither speaking.
Until the car stopped in front of a hospital, Harper tilted her head curiously.
“Are you sick?”
Ethan’s gaze fell on her large hat:
“Aren’t you injured? I’m taking you for a checkup before we go home.”
Harper was momentarily stunned, feeling a warmth in her heart, but also curious:
“How did you know I had a head injury?”
For three days, she had concealed it perfectly, even her parents hadn’t noticed.
Ethan turned his head, his long fingers tapping the steering wheel, his dark eyes resting on her fair face.
“A guess.”
That day at the airport, Harper was dressed elegantly.
Her coordinated outfit showed she clearly cared about her appearance, yet her hat was oddly oversized, covering her entire head, clearly mismatched with her attire.
Later in the car, Harper’s head lightly bumped the door.
Normally, a light bump shouldn’t hurt much, but he noticed her sharply inhale as if in severe pain.
Harper’s eyes widened in astonishment:
“Ethan Carter, you’re quite the detail man.”
At the private hospital’s top floor, Dr. Howard was already waiting.
He curiously looked at Harper following behind Ethan, unable to resist commenting:
“You had me waiting here all morning, and you show up now. Wait, is this the woman you’ve been thinking of—”

Ethan frowned, cutting him off:
“My wife, Harper Mitchell.”
Dr. Howard immediately understood and shut up. He gave Harper a full examination.
Under Ethan’s instructions, Dr. Howard was exceptionally gentle when changing Harper’s head dressing.
An hour later, the results came in.
Dr. Howard analyzed them for a while, then called Ethan into the hallway with a serious expression:
“Ethan, your wife Harper isn’t just injured on her head; she also has temporary blindness in one eye. Fortunately, her right eye vision is gradually recovering.”
“But from my observation, Harper’s head wounds don’t look like they came from a single impact. They appear to be the result of multiple deliberate injuries.”
“I asked a friend at a Riverside hospital to pull her recent medical records and found some anomalies.”
“If Harper was hospitalized for a gastritis infection, she shouldn’t have been given these medications in the early stages. Based on my years of medical experience, I suspect your wife was deceived into donating bone marrow…”
Anger rose in Ethan’s chest. He took out his phone and commanded:
“Find out what Harper experienced recently in Riverside.”
