Chapter 6
Hearing this, Harper quickly pushed open the door.
She coughed lightly, and the two immediately stopped talking.
That evening, the doctor announced she could be discharged.
Back home, Harper received a friend request from someone named “Ethan Carter.”
She blinked, guessing it might be her future husband, then accepted.
Immediately, he sent her a bride price list–a notebook filled with extensive bride price details. Harper skimmed it, finding it almost impossible to count everything.
Then Ethan sent two more messages:
“Here’s the bride price list. Does it meet your approval?”
“Your mother mentioned you’re flying in two days, arriving the following morning. I’ll come with her to pick you up at the airport.”
Harper considered for a moment before responding:
“The bride price is more than enough, thank you.”
He didn’t reply further.
All evening, Finn tried to make conversation with Harper.
But Harper remained disinterested.
Thinking she was still angry about the previous incidents, Finn had his assistant arrange a pre–wedding singles party for the next day to cheer her up.
The following day, everyone in their circle knew this was Finn’s pre–wedding celebration, and many people attended.
As soon as Harper arrived at the venue, Finn wrapped his arm around her waist and produced two vehicle purchase contracts.
He first handed one to Harper, his eyes intense:
“I felt that supercar from before wasn’t good enough for you, so I’ve ordered you a new one.”
After a pause, he handed the original Lamborghini contract to Serena, who stood nearby looking pitiful, and said gently:
“Serena, this car was originally for your sister–in–law, but now she has a new one, so it’s yours. I hope you don’t mind it being a hand–me–down.”
Serena accepted the contract with barely concealed delight:

“No problem at all. Today is all about the bride–to–be.”
Despite her words, it was obvious to everyone that the Lamborghini Finn gave Serena was a limited national edition.
The new supercar he bought for Harper was just an ordinary, slightly expensive sports car.
Nearby guests couldn’t help but whisper among themselves:
“Is Finn really marrying Harper? This is supposed to be Harper and Finn’s pre–wedding party, but he’s giving Serena gifts?”
“So many excuses, but he just wanted to give that limited–edition supercar to Serena.”
“Everyone knows Harper loves cars. Isn’t Serena just trying to hurt her?”
“Shh! Did you know Serena is an amazing racer? I heard she’s actually the famous racer ‘Phantom.‘ Finn first fell for her when ‘Phantom‘ saved his life on the track…”
Harper sat in the corner, quietly listening to the gossip, her brow furrowing slightly.
Phantom?
Wasn’t that her?
Before Harper could think further, many guests analyzed the situation and began approaching Serena with glasses of champagne, showering her with compliments.
“Serena, Finn really spoils you, giving you such an expensive supercar so casually.”
“That white dress looks stunning on you–like a real princess.”
“I heard you’re an incredible racer. You’re so versatile–perfect for Finn!”
More and more people flocked to compliment Serena, completely forgetting that Harper was supposed to be the center of attention.
An hour later, the atmosphere grew livelier, with some singing and others playing games.
Finn remained seated next to Serena, his gaze never leaving her.
When Serena greedily eyed some crab, Finn patiently lowered his voice to coax her:
“Be good. You’re pregnant and can’t eat that. After you have the baby, I’ll buy you all the crab you want.”
When Serena reddened her eyes, preparing to make a scene, Finn sighed and pulled an unlimited black card from his wallet and handed it to her.
This unlimited black card quickly created quite a stir.
“Could it be that Finn still has feelings for Serena?”
“They always say the current girlfriend can’t compete with the first love. Guess it’s true!”

Amid the gossip, Harper sat quietly in the corner.
She kept her head down, playing with her phone, as if the surrounding festivities had nothing to do with her.
Serena looked around and spotted Harper in the corner. Walking over in her high heels, she smiled smugly:
“This is your pre–wedding party with Finn, but I’ve stolen all the attention. Everyone’s fawning over me. You must be livid, right?”
“But no matter how upset you are, you’ll just have to grin and bear it. So what if you stayed with Finn through his toughest five years? Whenever I appear, I’m still the one he loves most.”
Harper knew Serena wanted to provoke her, but she had cried all her tears the day she was discharged from the hospital.
Seeing no response, Serena’s eyes flashed with coldness.
Her gaze fell on the jade bracelet around Harper’s wrist, jealousy flashing in her eyes. Suddenly, she snatched it away.
“Are you crazy? What are you doing?” Harper raised her hand to grab it back, but Serena secretly used force.
She stroked the jade bracelet, her eyes flashing with envy and resentment:
“I heard this was Mrs. Cooper’s gift to you as her future daughter–in–law?”
Before Harper could speak, Serena suddenly stuffed the bracelet into her mouth, deliberately tearing her mouth corners, drawing blood.
Bright red blood dripped from her mouth corner, and Serena weakly collapsed to the ground, the jade bracelet falling beside
her.
She looked up tearfully:
“Sister–in–law, I just thought Mrs. Cooper’s bracelet was beautiful. Why did you stuff it in my mouth? It hurts so much, oh…”
Before Harper could react, a black figure flashed by, and she was roughly pushed away.
Harper lost her balance and crashed into a table holding a giant celebration cake.
Her head wound reopened, bleeding again.
The cake slid onto Harper, sticky and messy.
Harper winced in pain, her eyes reddening as she looked up at Finn who had rushed over.
He didn’t even glance at her, worriedly taking out a handkerchief to wipe the blood from Serena’s mouth, his dark eyes filled with concern.
Harper finally understood the act Serena was playing.
She wiped the sticky cream from her face, picked up the jade bracelet from the floor, and handed it to Serena.
Just as Finn thought she was trying to provoke Serena and was about to explode, Harper grabbed Serena’s wrist and put the

bracelet on her.
“Mrs. Cooper gave it to me, and you like it? Then it’s yours.”
