Chapter 39
“Alpha, we’re approaching the dtskirts of Emerald City,” the driver nounced respectfully.
“Alpha, King Jason’s attendants have contacted us in advance. They’ve prepared a city tour for your party,” he added,
“No,” Nathan said sharply, his voice cutting like ice. “This isn’t a leisure trip.”
He turned to me, his expression severe. “I brought you only to ensure no one interferes with my property. I don’t have time for sightseeing.”
His words stabbed at my heart, but I carefully controlled my expression. Alpha’s words shouldn’t hurt you, Rachel. Don’t forget your place.
“We’ll arrive at the city center in ten minutes,” the driver informed.
I gazed out the window, catching my first glimpse of Emerald City’s luxurious palaces glittering emerald–green in the sunlight. A soft gasp escaped my lips before I could stop it.
I felt Nathan’s eyes on me but couldn’t decipher the emotion flickering in those stormy gray depths.
The motorcade slowly rolled down the stone driveway, stopping before the castle gates. Through the window, I watched elegantly dressed castle staff emerge to greet our vehicles.
Nathan’s black car stood out prominently, with the others following closely behind.
My heart raced as the castle’s silhouette loomed larger.
An uneasy premonition spread through me–this would be my temporary home until Nathan completed his mission.
I could feel my wolf restlessly stirring within me, as though once we entered, there would be no turning back.
“I have only one rule for you, Rachel,” Nathan said, leaning close enough that his breath brushed my neck. “Stay with Victoria or Tyler at all times. Trust no one else. Do you understand?”
How could I not? I thought, but simply nodded, lowering my eyes. “I understand, Alpha.”
The car door opened. Nathan stepped out first, then extended his hand to me.
When my fingers touched his, an electric current raced through my entire body.
Once I was steady, he immediately released my hand and strode toward the waiting greeters. Tyler and Victoria appeared at my sides like guardian angels.
As I gazed up at the imposing castle, I realized there was no going back. My wolf had already detected the scents of uni Alphas in the air and curled protectively deep within my soul.

The interior of Emerald City’s castle took my breath away. Crystal chandeliers hung from soaring ceilings, while portraits of past Wolf Kings adorned the walls.
The polished marble floors reflected the soft lighting, and ancient weapons and art pieces lined both sides of the corridor.
Everything here was far more magnificent than anything I’d seen in fronjaw territory, displaying a power and history I’d never experienced.

Chapter 39
A short, plump older woman Chloe, the castle’s housekeeper approached us with a welcoming smile,
Welcome, Alpha Nathan, Chloe said, her eyes scanning our group, Ingering on me for a second. His Majesty the King is unfortunately detained by an urgent meeting. Please allow me to show you to your suites.
Nathan’s jaw tightened, but he merely nodded curtly. His eyes flasher dangerously gold before returning to their calmn gray.
Chloe led us up a long staircase. Raymond and Madison were the first to be shown to their rooms. I noticed Madison’s displeased expression at her room’s location, but she merely frowned without the tantrum she’d thrown at Ironjaw castle.
I could feel Raymond’s gaze lingering on me until they disappeared around the corridor corner, and this made me feel a bit annoyed deep down at being watched like this,
We walked through one ornately carved wooden door after another, with members of our party being assigned to their respective
rooms.
Finally, only Nathan and I remained as we approached a white wooden door carved with the image of the Moon Goddess and wolves.
“This will be the Moon Goddess Suite for you and your lady, Alpha, Chloe said cheerfully, her eyes darting between Nathan and me with knowing look. She bowed slightly before passing us, returning briskly the way we had come.
I wasn’t sure if I’d heard correctly. Before I could ask any questions, Nathan opened the door and entered the suite, leaving me to follow him.
The Moon Goddess Suite? Isn’t this reserved for an Alpha and his Luna? My heart raced, uncertain wh
