Chapter 10
Joshua, in a black suit, exuded an aura of controlled power. His gaze briefly rested on me, then settled on Kevin, still sobbing.
“Kevin, come here,” he said, his voice calm yet commanding.
The maids instantly released their hold on Kevin at Joshua’s words. He ran to his father.
“Dad! You’re here!”
Joshua ruffled Kevin’s hair.“What happened?” His voice was warm, deep.
Before Kevin could answer, Julianna approached, wiping away her tears.“It’s my fault. I rushed things. Kevin’s having a hard time accepting me as his mother.”
“You’re not my mom!” Kevin pushed her away, his voice filled with anger.“You’re a bad woman!”
Julianna cried out, losing her balance in her high heels. Joshua caught her just in time.
“Are you alright?”
“I think I sprained my ankle,” she said, her voice slightly unsteady. “But let’s focus on Kevin first.”
Joshua scooped her into his arms. “I’ll take you to the hospital.”
His gaze met mine. Tears blurred my vision.“Is she really his mother?”
He looked directly into my eyes, his voice deep, cold, yet controlled. “Yes.”
No guilt flickered in his eyes. My heart sank.
“Kevin listens to you. Take him home. Talk to him.”
He carried Julianna to the car. The Maybach departed, leaving me alone.
I lowered my head, my lips pale, struggling to control the tears threatening to spill.
