Lilith stared at Klain in disbelief. “Why?! Klain! You believed she was a slut too! What are you doing?!”
“How am I any less than her?! I’m the real Caldwell heiress!”
Klain raised his hand and slapped her hard across the face, his eyes blood–red with rage. “Shut your mouth!”
“I knew Aurora. I knew she wouldn’t just leave the country for no reason, and she would never cheat on me!”
“The moment I saw those photos, I knew something had happened to her!”
I stood frozen, my spirit nearly empty with shock.
All this time, he had been searching for me in secret.
Lolita Island was just too well–hidden, so he had no choice but to pretend to believe Lilith, getting close to her to find
clues about me.
The realization hit me, making me laugh and cry at once.
Lilith tried to speak again, but another slap cut her off. “Aurora had a chance to survive, but you didn’t give her a shred of hope!”
“How dare you! HOW DARE YOU do this to the person I loved most!”
By the end, he was practically roaring, veins bulging in his neck, tears streaming down his face.
I sobbed uncontrollably.
So I wasn’t unloved after all.
Klain continued, “After I dropped you home that night, I had already planted a listening device in your purse. I heard clearly that Aurora had returned.”
“I rushed back, but… I was too late!”
“Thankfully, I was able to confirm that Aurora was on Lolita Island.”
He had sent the recordings to the police, investigating step by step until they found the location.
Until they found me.
Lilith still couldn’t accept it. “That’s not true! If that’s the case, why did you propose to me? Why marry me?!”
“You love me, don’t you?!”
Klain looked at her with contempt. “How else could I fulfill Aurora’s last wish to bring you all to justice?”

Chapter 8
“You owe Aurora a life. And you owe me my destroyed universe.”
Lilith finally understood she had lost completely.
My parents immediately fell to their knees, desperately begging for mercy. “Klain! Mr. Alexander! It was all Lilith’s idea! She’s the one who suggested sending Aurora to Lolita Island!”
“Please! Spare us! Everything was Lilith’s fault!”
Lilith looked at my parents in shock, apparently never expecting them to abandon her in this moment of crisis.
She lunged at Mom, the two wrestling on the ground.
Mom dodged while screaming, “Lilith! Don’t forget! If it wasn’t for YOUR idea, would Aurora have ever gone to that island?!”
Dad cursed, “Ungrateful daughter! If you hadn’t insisted on destroying her, would we be here today?!”
Lilith’s hair wild, looking completely unhinged. “You agreed to everything back then! Now you’re blaming it all on
me!”
The police officer sighed, no longer wasting words with them, and led them away.
I floated to Klain’s side, wanting to touch him but not daring to.
He looked up at the sky. “Aurora, can you see? They got what they deserved.”
I cried even harder. Yes, I saw everything.
Klain’s family members supported his arms, sighing, “What a shame to lose such a wonderful girl.”
The story spread like wildfire, public outrage surging like a tidal wave.
Lolita Island was destroyed overnight. Everyone involved in its operations was imprisoned without exception.
Caldwell Industries, despised and disgraced, soon declared bankruptcy.
Those bones, weathered by time, were eventually identified one by one, each returned to their families.
Klain stood at my grave with my favorite flowers, his voice trembling: “Aurora, are you doing okay wherever you
are?”
Tears fell as he choked up. “I’m sorry I was too late.”
I never knew he was such a crybaby before.
I lunged forward, trying to embrace him.
He seemed to sense something, whispering: “In this lifetime, you were the only star in my heart.”
Moved to tears, I felt my spirit slowly dissipating.
