Dominic grabbed Vivian’s arm and dragged her out. The child was scared and began crying loudly, but I no longer
had the energy to care. My mind was filled with what Vivian had just said.
Dominic didn’t return. After some time, obscene sounds reached my ears.
I got out of bed and followed the sounds out of the room. The sounds were coming from Vivian’s room.
The man’s voice was hoarse with barely restrained desire.
“Stop this. Aria is still home. It wouldn’t be good if she heard us.”
The woman’s voice was seductive enough to melt bones.
“Don’t worry, I’ve closed the door. She won’t hear us. Come on, Dom. It’s been so long. Haven’t you missed me?”
What followed was predictable.
Just as the intimate atmosphere in the air reached its peak, Vivian, beneath Dominic, turned her seductive eyes and met my gaze in mid–air.
Seeing Vivian’s slightly challenging look, what more did I need to understand?
Vivian had done this deliberately. She claimed she’d closed the door, but it was clearly open.
She did this deliberately–deliberately letting me see everything, deliberately letting me discover their relationship.
I lowered my eyes and thoughtfully closed the door for them.
Early the next morning when I went downstairs, only Phoenix was at the dining table. He was holding his small bowl, feeding himself spoonful by spoonful.
Seeing me come down, he smiled, his eyes curving into crescents.
“Auntie Aria, you’re awake! Would you like some porridge? It’s seafood porridge, and it’s really yummy…”
Before he could finish, he suddenly seemed to choke. His little face turned bright red as he covered his mouth and fell heavily from the chair.
I was shocked by this sudden turn of events and hurried forward to check on him.
After all, issues between adults have nothing to do with children. I couldn’t just watch a child struggle in pain before tuy eyes.
But Vivian’s scream erupted at that moment.
“Aria Bailey! What’re you doing?!”

She rushed forward, yanked me away, and anxiously called Phoenix’s name for a while.
After finding Phoenix unresponsive, she checked what he had been eating, then turned to me with red eyes and shouted.
“Miss Bailey! If you’re unhappy with us staying here, we can leave. But why would you do something so terrible to a child? He’s only three years old. You could kill him like this!”
“Phoenix has been allergic to seafood since he was born. I’ve never dared give him anything like this. How could you be so heartless and give him seafood porridge?!”
I was stunned by this barrage of accusations and could only instinctively deny it.
“I didn’t. I didn’t give him…”
But Vivian didn’t give me any chance to explain, cutting me off urgently.
“You didn’t? Are you saying this seafood porridge delivery was ordered by Phoenix himself? He’s only three! What would he know?!”
Dominic didn’t even glance at me. He took large strides forward, scooped up the struggling Phoenix from the floor, and headed for the door.
“Enough. Let’s get the child to the hospital first.”
Dominic clearly hadn’t said a word to me, but after five years together, I could clearly feel he was blaming me.
As they passed me. I looked at Dominic’s profile and grabbed his wrist, speaking word by word.
“Dominic, it wasn’t me.”
Dominic paused, a flash of impatience crossing his brow.
“Let go. I need to get Phoenix to the hospital.”
Just as Dominic finished speaking. Vivian pushed me hard and left with Dominic.
Vivian’s push came suddenly. I fell unexpectedly, my lower back hitting the corner of the coffee table. The sudden pain swept through my entire body, and I couldn’t help crying out.
But Dominic, who once would have been devastated at the slightest frown from me, now ignored my cry of pain. His mind and eyes were solely fixed on the child in his arms.
As the duer figures gradually disappeared from my sight, my phone rang–it was a message from Grandpa.
“The car will arrive soun Pack up and come out.”
I wiped away try tears fiercely, ignored the severe pain in my waist, got up from the floor, and went into the bedroom
