Seth, furious, caught up to me, yanking my wrist and pulling me back. The
force threw me against the wall; a sharp pain shot through my shoulder.

notes for her in class, why didn’t you do it? Her brother died saving you; how can
you not even handle this little task!”
“Mr. Miller,” I said, slowly raising my head. My eyes locked with his, cold
and devoid of warmth.
“This isn’t the Miller family. If you assault me again, I will use legal means to
protect myself.”
He widened his eyes.“What did you call me? What do you

The anger in his eyes lessened; his expression suggested realization.
I was clearly upset with Sarah, throwing a tantrum. He was my brother; if I
apologized, he would let me return.

“Did I say I wanted to go back to the Miller family?” I asked.
He frowned. “I’ve already compromised; how long are you going to be
stubborn?”

“You want me to return to the Miller family, be your maid, busy all the time,
and you think it’s compromise?”
I stared at him, my sarcastic gaze making him uncomfortable.
“Who said you’d be a maid!”
“I’m not even as good as a maid! At least maids have wages, can’t be abused
by their employers, and have their own free time. But I have nothing.”
Every word dripped with sarcasm, and with so many students around, their
curious glances and whispers only fueled the fire in his chest!
Sarah added fuel to the fire.“Bella, you make it sound like the brothers have
mistreated you all these years. I know you resent me for taking their affection,
but saying it like this is just heartbreaking for them. If you’re really angry, I’ll
move out…”
