Why wouldn’t she dare?
Camelia tilted her head slightly, blinking with composure:
“Is your permission something that matters to me?
Mukesh, you think too highly of yourself.
Let me tell you one last time–you mean absolutely nothing to me.
What we had is truly over.”
With that, ignoring Mukesh’s suddenly hollow expression, she laced her fingers with Elijah’s and turned away to continue
their moonlit conversation.
No one knew or cared when Mukesh finally left the estate.
But he didn’t return home. Instead, he bought a high–rise apartment near the vineyard with a view of the grape fields.
He took extended leave from his school. Every day, he drove to the estate gates, bringing different flowers or gifts Camelia had once mentioned but he had never bothered to get, waiting for her to appear.
She neither acknowledged him nor changed her plans because of him.
Nine years of a degrading, one–sided marriage had taught her one thing:
A woman should never alter her life’s direction to accommodate a man.
Work when she needed to work, socialize when she wanted to socialize.
In this vast world, her only responsibility was her own happiness.
As for Mukesh, she figured his persistence must be because his grandfather missed her and had ordered him to seek her forgiveness.
So she personally called Grandfather Willibert to inform him that she had a fiancé and a new life now, asking him not to force Mukesh to stay in England on a futile mission out of concern for her.
Yet for an entire month after that call, Mukesh surprisingly continued to wait at the estate gates, just to catch a glimpse of her through a car window.
The first to lose patience was Elijah.
Late one night, as Elijah and Camelia returned from a party, they spotted Mukesh standing under a streetlight with his unchanging white roses.
Just as she stepped out of the car, the sky behind her suddenly erupted with thousands of rainbow fireworks.

Chapter 9
Elijah had torturously watched the video of Mukesh’s proposal to Camelia countless times.
Back then, young and naive, she had been dazzled by the spectacular fireworks, joyfully accepting Mikesir’s proynat
Now, seeing how the fireworks caught her attention, the insecure Elijah finally snapped. He charged at Makesh, and they began fighting furiously:
“Mukesh Willibert! You shameless homewrecker! Always trying to get my fiancée to look at you–in thirty some years I’ve never seen anyone as pathetic as you!”
“If I’m pathetic, what are you? Camelia and I were together for nine solid years. If she hadn’t lost her ability to have children in that car accident,
I never would have agreed to let Elowen keep the baby.
Let me tell you, Camelia just misunderstands me now, thinking I cheated and stopped loving her. That’s the only reason she’s settling for an eternal backup like you.
Once I get her to forgive me, she’ll break off your engagement and come right back to me.”
Hearing this, Elijah laughed coldly with rage and knocked Mukesh to the ground with one punch.
When Camelia lost her baby in the car accident, it was Elijah who dropped everything to be by her side, caring for her without rest until she recovered.
Meanwhile, Mukesh had used work as an excuse while actually buying two tickets to Prague, taking Elowen sightseeing all over the tourist city.
As Camelia tried unsuccessfully to stop them, the men continued their vicious fight until two police officers happened to drive by.
One officer locked eyes with Mukesh, immediately got out of the car, broke up the fight, and took all three of them to a nearby hospital without discussion.
At the hospital, while Camelia was focused on Elijah, she suddenly found herself pushed into Mukesh’s room.
Now she finally understood–everything tonight had been Mukesh’s elaborate trap,
And all this drama was simply so he could have some time alone with her.
She asked him with an incredulous smile:
“Was all this really necessary?”
Mukesh, with two broken ribs, looked at her with reddened eyes and gave her a sheepish smile.
Then in a hoarse voice, he said deliberately:
“Camelia, I’ve missed you.”
I’ve missed you so much I’m going crazy.

Chapter 9
When the doctor came in to treat Mukesh’s injuries, Camelia noticed the tattoo on his chest.
The sun, the moon, and stars.
This was the family design she’d created when she first became pregnant.
She remembered Mukesh’s simple assessment of that drawing:
“The moon? Someone like you doesn’t deserve that comparison.”
In the hospital room, while Elijah was kept away, Mukesh approached Camelia, gripping her wrist tightly, refusing to let go:
“Camelia, I want to apologize in person.
I’m sorry, my love. Everything was my fault.
I’ll do whatever it takes to make it up to you if you’ll just forgive me.”
Before she could respond, his phone rang right on cue.
It was Elowen.
As he answered, Mukesh unhesitatingly turned on the speakerphone.
“Mukesh! Help me, Mukesh! Your assistant suddenly showed up with some people at the apartment, they–they took me to the hospital… The baby, they want to get rid of our baby!”
Hearing Elowen’s heartbreaking pleas, Mukesh didn’t even flinch, just kept smiling at Camelia:
“Elowen, I know about the drugs you slipped me that night. This baby cannot stay.
And those rumors you paid to spread online about Camelia being infertile? I’ve had them all removed.
The price for slandering my wife is that the doctors won’t give you anesthesia for the procedure, and after today, you’ll never have children again.”
After several seconds of breathless silence, Elowen, sobbing uncontrollably, began to stammer desperately over the phone:
“Mukesh, Mukesh, I was just out of my mind, I–I didn’t mean to! You can punish me however you want, I’m begging you, please, spare our baby! Mukesh-! AAAAHHH!”
Hearing Elowen’s sudden terrifying scream, Camelia instinctively frowned.
Noticing her expression change, Mukesh immediately hung up.
Taking her hand and carefully placing it against his cheek, the extremely pale Mukesh looked at Camelia with devotion:
“Camelia, I’ll have them send the surgery video later. After you see it with your own eyes, could you forgive me, even a little
bit?”
Even the slightest forgiveness would be enough.

She pulled her hand away in disgust, looking at his immediately crestfallen face, and suggested coldly:
“This hospital has a famous psychiatric department. You should make an appointment immediately.”
Mukesh gave her a weak smile:
“Alright, whatever you say.”
Mukesh thought about how, over these nine years, he had accumulated countless debts to Camelia.
But that was okay. Now that he recognized his mistakes, he would spend the rest of his life making up for everything he owed her-
On the third day of harboring this thought, Camelia held a magnificent wedding with Elijah.
When Mukesh received word and raced to the venue like a madman, the white–haired minister had just finished reading their wedding vows.
