The assistant immediately replied:
“Of course, I’ll arrange for someone to purchase them right away and have them delivered to Miss Elowen’s residence.”
Mukesh stopped walking, pinched the bridge of his nose, and said:
“Send them to the old Aditi family estate instead.”
In his mind, after leaving the mansion, Camelia couldn’t possibly be anywhere else but her family’s old home.
One week later, late at night.
Finally done with work, Mukesh returned home to find a slender silhouette in a silk nightgown curled up on the living room sofa.
“Camelia, I’ve told you countless times, I’ll come home when I’m done working. You don’t need to always—”
As he got closer and realized the woman on the sofa was Elowen, Mukesh’s mocking complaints abruptly stopped.
Being stared at so coldly by him,
Elowen couldn’t help but shiver, her expression both pitiful and hurt:
“Mukesh, your wife hasn’t come back all this time.
I’ve sent her so many apology messages, but she’s ignored all of them.
Maybe I should just move out?”
Seeing Elowen on the verge of tears again, Mukesh frowned inwardly as he held her.
Somewhat mechanically kissing her forehead, he told her to take care of herself and not worry too much.
“Whether Camelia accepts it or not, this is your home–yours and the baby’s–from now on.”
Half an hour after making this promise, Mukesh stood alone on the terrace in his robe, smoking.
He’d quit for quite a while, but for some reason tonight, he couldn’t resist the urge.
Almost unconsciously scrolling through his phone, Mukesh found Camelia’s number at the very bottom of his contacts.
His thumb hovered over the call button for a long time.
After finishing two cigarettes, instead of calling,
He sent a warning message:

Chapter 4
[Camelia, tomorrow is Grandfather’s 80th birthday. I advise you not to pull any stunts at the celebration that might cause trouble for Elowen and the baby.]
On the day of Grandfather Willibert’s birthday celebration.
Mukesh arrived with Elowen in grand fashion, clearly a loving couple.
It wasn’t until Grandfather Willibert himself entered that Mukesh finally let go of Elowen’s hand, moving to the old man’s side to help welcome important guests.
“Where’s Camelia? Why didn’t she come with you?”
Faced with Grandfather’s pointed question, Mukesh pressed his lips into a thin line, and surprisingly defended Camelia:
“Sorry, Grandfather. Camelia’s been busy preparing your gift these past few days. She looked exhausted, so I let her rest a bit. She’ll join us later.”
Two hours quickly passed.
The celebration had reached the final gift–giving ceremony, yet Camelia still hadn’t appeared.
Suppressing his growing uneasiness,
Mukesh walked to a corner and took out his phone to call her.
[The number you have dialed is not available…]
Refusing to give up, he tried again, only to hear the same mechanical busy tone.
At that moment, a courier walked into the banquet hall.
Delivering three gifts Camelia had sent.
Under everyone’s curious gaze, Grandfather Willibert happily opened the first gift.
Inside was a beautifully crafted, hand–painted family crest, each detail meticulously rendered.
Anyone could tell it was something she had poured months of effort into, creating it by hand.
Moved to tears, Grandfather opened the second gift.
Inside were the heirloom jewels that Mukesh’s grandmother had given Camelia on their wedding day.
When the jewels appeared, the entire room suddenly fell silent.
In high society circles, a woman returning family heirlooms had a meaning everyone understood perfectly.
Before Grandfather could recover, Mukesh, his face dark as coal, silently clenched his fists and walked to the third gift.
Just as Camelia had anticipated, the ice–faced man personally lifted the lid on the final gift she had prepared.
