“Any idea what Alayah is doing?” Grandma asks from the kitchen and Nero tells her that Dad and Mara took her to dinner. “They are at Jesse’s diner, they serve the best food in our Pack. I doubt she will love it as much as your cooking, Grandma.” Nero says and Grandma says she helps him hope that or Grandma might kick his ass. “I want front row tickets to that.” Khal says and I am laughing my ass off, not caring that everyone
stares at me.
“Sorry, Grandma. I wasn’t laughing at you, but Khal said he wanted front row tickets when you kick Nero’s ass.” I manage to say before I start laughing again and this time I am joined by everyone, except for Nero of course. My Brothers and I are seated together with Anton at one end of the table, while Grandma, Grandfather, Uncle Paul and Uncle Rex are sitting on the other end of the table and I ask Grandma why both families have Sunday dinner when there is nothing connecting the families.
Noah smacks me on the back of the head as Nero calls me a fool and Anton is laughing his ass off, “You forgot about Alayah, Moron.” Noah says and I ask him how many families he knows that have Sunday dinner just because they are related in some way. “Dinner with Grandparents I understand, but never together. Same for Aunts and Uncles, I don’t remember us having dinner with the Grandparents from both sides and that is why I asked the question.” I explain.
No one says a word as they think about what I said and I wonder if anyone will be able to explain to me why they come together every Sunday for dinner, don’t get me wrong it is fun having dinner with all of them. I just don’t understand why they have dinner once a week while there is nothing connecting them, the only time I have been in the same room with my maternal and paternal Grandparents was at birthdays or Christmas.
The rest of dinner is spend in silence and during dessert I find out that no one has an answer to my question, until Grandfather decides to answer me truthfully. “Alayah never knew her Father and her Mother was more absent than present. I know she didn’t expect much from us the day she came to the Pack–house, but I also knew she wanted a family she could rely on and I swore to myself that I would give her the family she needed and wanted.
Grandma and I decided that Sunday dinner would be the best way to make sure we would all spend at least one day with Alayah and only in very unusual circumstances will we skip Sunday dinner. This is the fourth time in all those years that we haven’t been complete, but it is the first time that Alayah is the one to not be present.” Grandfather says and I understand their need to give Alayah a constant in her life.
We always had Mom and Dad, they were there when we woke up and went to bed and they were there for every major change in our life. We could always count on Mom and Dad to be there until the day Mom died, than it was just Dad and he made sure he was there every step of the way. Alayah on the ot! and grew up without her Father and her Mother was so struck with grieve that she didn’t know how to be a Mother to her Daughter.
Her Grandparents and Uncles did everything they could in the past five years to make sure she knew she had a family she could count on and having dinner once a week was their way of showing her she could count on them, that they would be there for her if she ever needed them. I like the idea behind their dinner arrangement and I think I would like to keep it as a family tradition.
On our way back to the Pack–house Noah’s phone starts ringing and he looks a bit surprised when he sees Mara’s name flashing on the screen, “Hello, Mara.” He answers but we quickly find out that Dad is on the other end of the line and he tells us to get to the Gamma floor immediately, that he needs to tells us something without alarming anyone else. At least not until we know who we can trust and at the moment that aren’t many members of Crimson Moon Pack.

Noah tells him to call us back in ten minutes before he hangs up the phone, I don’t think I have heard Dad sound like that before in my life and we all wonder what is going on. “Let’s do as Dad said. Anton, link Marc and tell him to get Crystal, they need to come to the Gamma floor immediately.” Noah says before we head to the Pack–house.
We rush up the stairs to the Gamma floor and Anton is right behind us. He has warned Marc and Crystal to come to our floor as well, the moment we are on the Gamma floor Noat phone starts ringing again and as he answer it Marc and Crystal close the door behind them. “Dad, we are all here. Anton, Marc and Crystal are with us. Will you please tell us what is going on, Dad?” Noah asks him.
“Before I go into that I have a question for my Sons and if you don’t want to answer it with the others around you can just say so, but I will expect an answer. Is it true that your Lycans haven’t felt a connection yet?” Dad asks and I look at Noah before looking at Nero and Nathan, I don’t mind answering the question in front of Anton, Marc and Crystal.
I think I am worried about Alayah’s reaction if I say I felt a connection, but before I can answer Dad Nero tells him that Miku felt a connection and Nathan, Noah and I quickly follow in answering Dad. “Then I would like to know why you all told someone that your Lycans hadn’t felt a connection yet.” Dad says and we can all hear the anger in his voice. Noah looks terrified at Dad’s words and suddenly I understand how Alayah’s gift was triggered.
She overheard Noah talking to the female in the living room and that must have upset her for some reason, which is why she used her ability without her realizing it. We caused her to tap into a gift she didn’t know she had or how she could use it and then we accused her of lying.
