Chapter 16
However, no matter how fluently Nathan spoke the local language, the police completely ignored him.
Because Olivia was the one who had called them.
“Ma’am, hello,” a female officer approached Olivia, then gently asked her: “Is what that gentleman said true? Is he your husband? Has he harmed you?”
“If he has hurt you, please let me know. We officers will definitely help you.”
“That’s right, Olivia, tell her if I’m your husband or not,” Nathan also looked expectantly at Olivia. “We’re married, we’re family. James is the outsider!”
Nathan was full of hope, believing Olivia would surely explain everything to the police.
After all, he and Olivia were family. If they had issues, they could resolve them privately without involving law enforcement.
Olivia had always been sensible. She should understand what was at stake.
However, Olivia merely gave Nathan a cold glance, then looked away.
“He’s not my husband. He’s my ex–husband. We’re already divorced,” Olivia said coldly. “But he can’t accept the fact that we’re divorced, and he keeps harassing me even now.”
“I came to this country specifically to get away from him, but I never expected he would follow me all the way here.”
“I want you to detain him because his behavior has become a threat to my personal safety!”
Nathan’s eyes widened in disbelief. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“Olivia, how can you say that? I’m your husband! How can you make me sound like some psycho stalker?”
“Olivia, I love you! I love you more than anyone else in this world. How can you do this to me?!”
However, no matter how much he shouted, it was too late.
After hearing Olivia’s account, the officers immediately handcuffed Nathan and put him in the police car.
“Let me go! Let me go!” Nathan struggled furiously. “I haven’t broken any laws! What right do you have to arrest me?”
As soon as he protested, a male officer unceremoniously kicked him: “Settle down! We arrest creeps like you several times a year!”
“I know your type all too well. It starts with stalking, and then as the stalking continues, your mind gets twisted. You start thinking about murdering your ex–wife for revenge.”
“Should we wait until you’ve killed someone before arresting you? By then it would be too late!”
Nathan was detained for a week.
When he was finally released, the police fitted him with an electronic ankle monitor.
If he got anywhere near Olivia again, the ankle monitor would emit a piercing alarm, and nearby police would immediately receive an alert, then rush to Olivia’s protection.
In contrast, James, despite being the one who threw the first punch, was released without charges because Olivia testified on his behalf, claiming he was just being a Good Samaritan. He was declared innocent and let go.
The stark difference made Nathan feel utterly miserable.
But he didn’t blame Olivia.

Chapter 16
Because after his release, the hacker Nathan hired finally successfully recovered all the data from his phone. Naturally, that included all those videos Olivia had sent him.
With one look, he instantly understood everything.
