Chapter 43 – Saved by a caveman
KYLIE’S POV
His hands came off me all of a sudden and I was sort of surprised.
“If you, so much as put your hands on her. Ever again in this lifetime, I promise I will render you handless. I will maim you.”
“Elijah?” I said in shock. I had not expected to see him there. And I was relieved. God knew I was relieved.
“Who the hell are you?!” The man shrieked as Elijah’s hand wound around his neck.
“Your worst nightmare.” I heard him say coldly and my hand went to my chest, trying to still my erratically beating heart.
I saw fear enter into the man’s eyes. All night, he had run his mouth, he had tried to do despicable things to me without any remorse. But now I saw real fear in his eyes. Which surprised me, because the man had yet to see who threatened him.
Elijah turned him around swiftly and held him by his collar. I watched as the drunk man tried to break free from Elijah’s grip, but his efforts were useless.
Elijah’s eyes were set, cold, and ready for the kill.
“Let me go!” The man barked and tried to strike Elijah, but Elijah caught his hand and bent it the wrong way, making the man howl in pain.
He was ruthless in his dealing right then, fearless too, with no regard for any consequence. Elijah feared no one.
I blinked in shock, my heart still pounding hard beneath my chest. Maybe I should have asked Elijah to stop. Perhaps I should have told him to let go, but I didn’t.
Probably because deep down, I wanted that man to get what he was getting. I wanted him to get paid for all he had done that night.
JUSTIN’S POV
Elijah appeared out of nowhere. One moment I was contemplating how to save Kylie without escalating things, then the next moment Elijah was there, bending the guy, “saving the day.”
There was a pit in my stomach, as I watched Elijah deal with the drunk man, and then I turned to Kylie, she was looking at him with something akin to awe in her eyes. As though she was glorifying him in his Brutish element.
Because that was exactly how Elijah handled things that he didn’t like. That was exactly how he was handling it right then.
He held the man by his collar, one of his hands in his, and looked at him like he wanted nothing more than to break him in
half. And he would do it.
He would do it, and Kylie would still look at him with so much admiration. Nothing was more toxic if you asked me.
But I couldn’t shake off the Little claws of Jealousy wrapped around me like a vice as I watched Elijah bend the man’s hand the wrong way. Elijah feared nothing. In truth, he had nothing to fear, he had no name to protect, and he had nothing to hide.
His name was his own, it couldn’t be taken from him from him if he made the wrong move. So, of course, he was fearless.
I wasn’t so lucky, because if I so much as wronged the wrong person, the wrong information could crop up about me. I couldn’t afford that, not when I had spent years and years curating the image I wanted for myself.
I could afford to pick fights with the wrong people. I avoided picking fights if I could help it at all.
So yeah, maybe I harbored some spite toward Elijah right at that moment.
Especially with the way, Kylie looked at him like he was some kind of hero.
But he was not a hero. He was a brute. He handled things like a caveman. It was the only way he seemed to know.
And you know what? I thought as I looked from him to Kylie…
Perhaps it would be beneficial to me if he made a mess of things. My jaws clenched and my fingers curled as the image took form in my head.
Yes. That was exactly what would happen. Elijah was an animal, Kylie just needed to see it. And she would.
Elijah was on the brink of pushing the line too far ahead, of going over the edge, where he couldn’t return and Kylie would never look at him the same. If she ever looked at him again.
I focused once again on the man and Elijah. El Successfully unlocked!
“If you know what is good for you, you’ll let me go, before you lose your ability to walk.”
“You should be careful with the way you make threats. More careful with the way you touch women.”
“I’ll touch whoever I want. And that little whore that you’re both bending over backwards to protect won’t be the exemption.”

Chapter 43 Sayed by a cavema
I saw it and felt it myself. The rage, the fury But Elijah was blinded by it, I think I watched him go red and than before way of us knew what was happening, he rammed his fist hard into the mae’s nose. The colision was so hard, so strong that the force had the man staggering and he cried out in pain
I watched in shock as blood spilled from his nose, and felt a bit sick
Our little scene had gathered some attention, but everyone was quiet. No one said anything.
“I’m going to kill you?” The man cried out and he sounded like he was in aprizing pain.
“I’ll wait for the day you’re strong enough to try then. Until then, there’s plenty of th from whence it came” Elijah said coldly and confidently
He was scary. Not because of the violence of the act. But there was that too. Put this was something else. Elijah was something else.
There was about the way Elijah held himself. He had an air and aura that was both undeniably terrible and dignified. He was so put together even in a situation like this. And it all but screamed dangerous. One thing was for certain and even to me it had been made clear, Elijah was not to be messed with.
I watched as he turned to Kylie and something unspoken passed between them. She didn’t seem to resent him at all. If anything, she seemed… grateful.
My anger bubbled up as the drunk man shouted curses and threats, but they all rolled off Elijah like nothing. He didn’t give a damn.
And my hatred for him burned. It burned so hot and high, because for the umpteenth time, even when Kylie had every reason to run from him, she would always run to him. Because for the thousandth time, the son of a bitch was winning
